Yes, if video is WMV, there will be "ASF Reader" as splitter instead.

No, it is .m2ts with 1080i VC-1 and DTS-HD

Yes, if video is m2ts, there will be "MPC - Mpeg Source (Gabest)" as splitter instead, becouse of HD audio compatibility (blueray) :D

Hi hoborg, thanks for all your effort =)

Just installed SAF b23t2, and i got this message:

saf.png

I have a ATI Radeon HD 5750 GPU, and i guess it's no big deal. It might also be a mess in my registry or something, because i had a 3650 GPU earlier. Just thought you should know i case there's a error with your hardware detection tool.

I can only read data from registry, and in
"hkLocalMachine\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000" is stored your first GPU (3650). I bet your 5750 is
"hkLocalMachine\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\000x"...

Hi Hoborg!

Im new user of Mediaportal.
I did everythings according with your recomendations (on 1 page).
Install new Win Xp Pro, install MP, SAF 4.00.22b (in VMware Virtual Machine)
But have problems with playing several video files: XVID-AC3, H.264-MP3 MP 1.0.2 cannot play such files.
I'd tryed to changed parameters in ffdshow decoder but nothing happend.
Can tell me what i need to do to play this files.

Did files play in MPC-HC player installed by SAF?
I bet VMware Virtual Machine is the problem...

@ALL
BTW, FFDshow now have new DXVA filter based on MPC decoder.

If it will be working correctly, it is possible i will replace MPC decoder by it (no need to have 2 same decoders in one package...)
Passthrough should be fixed too.

Sounds good, minimalism in codec use is always satisfying.

I am becoming more and more irritated by the ffdshow audio codec though. I watch a lot of movies at night and the difference in audio levels between speech, music and other sound effects is often substantial. Before I have used AC3Filter, which has a very effective and neat function for dynamic compression. I stopped doing it because I needed the ability to set different amounts of delay for different media types, which ffdshow allows.

I am not at all happy with the ffdshow function for dynamic compression though. It seems to make sound levels fluctuate a lot, it only reacts on certain sound effects (loud "clicks" always produce a dramatic decrease in volume but loud music doesn't). The AC3Filter function is way better IMHO. It may be a setting thing, ffdshow allows for a lot of tinkering. Unfortunately I haven't found very much discussion on the subject. Am I the only one using a HTPC in a cardboard box apartment building? :)
