I knew I shouldn't have copy/pasted that, but can you please answer my question? Or is the previous poster correct in that it's only for ATI users?

Does anybody have problems with resume from standby with the new PowerDVD-Codec?

Since I have this version I don't get liveTV running after resume (reinit TV-Cards and restart of MP and TVS!) and I don't get the preview of the recordings after resume!

Could it be, that the PowerDVD-Codec has to be reinitialized in any way (if this is even possible...)?

...i doubt about it. I am using it on my HTPC in GB-PVR and i do not have any problem with it.
May be related - i read somewhere about problems with iGPUs + DXVA after standby.

I've done some more testing in Graphstudio on my X3 720/HD3200 (Cat 9.12) system with some troublesome HD clips.

Note, all tests were done with VMR9. Also, switching Cyberlink DXVA off in the decoder from graphstudio doesn't work, so I had to disable it using the SAF shortcut.

The Cyberlink decoders I tried were Cyberlink Video Decoder 1.00.1105, Cyberlink H.264/AVC Decoder 2.4.0.1818, Cyberlink H.264/AVC Decoder (PDVD8) 2.4.0.1426 and Cyberlink H.264/AVC Decoder (PDVD9) 2.2.0.527.

Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest - 1080P Trailer.mp4 (1920*796, AVC 5.1, 6 Ref Frames = 9,169,920):

None of the Cyberlink decoders can play whether DXVA is disabled or not. Just get a black window and 0% CPU.

Out of the other decoders, DivX was the lowest CPU (40-50%), then MPC, then Elecard.


Quantam of Solace trailer.mp4 (1920*1056, AVC 5.0, 9 Ref Frames = 18,247,680):

All the Cyberlink decoders played this with under 10% CPU.

Again, DiVX had the lowest (40-50%) CPU usage out of the other decoders


Planet Earth - Pole to Pole 1080P sample.mkv (1920*1080, AVC 5.1, 16 Ref Frames = 33,177,600):

None of the Cyberlink decoders could play this in DXVA without severe glitching, although CPU was under 10%.
In SW mode (Cyberlink 1.00.1105), it used 50-70% CPU, and the stats were FPS 24, Jitter 1, Avg sync offset 0, Std dev sync offset 0.

DiVX used 50-60% CPU and had the same stats.

Elecard used 55-70% CPU and had FPS 24, Jitter 18, Avg sync offset 6, Std dev sync offset 32.

MPC Video used 55-60% CPU and had FPS 21, Jitter 17, Avg sync offset 910, Std dev sync offset 184.


So, it looks like my best bet is to use the DiVX decoder, which sacrifices DXVA but allows me to play more files. Of course these results only apply to my HD3200 with Cat 9.12, but hopefully they'll be of some use to someone.

I figured I would post here since I am using SAF only. My problem is that both AVI and MKV files play video just fine. It is that I get no audio from them. This is both in Mediaportal 1.1.0 Beta Latest SVN and MPC-HC. I installed VLC just to test and was able to hear the audio just fine.

Attached is my logs and I am hoping that someone can take a look and help me out.

I just can not get Live HDTV to play smooth. 1080p MKV's plays smooth (this is using MPC codec) but since people say this codec doesn't work with HDTV i use PowerDVD (also tried Coreavc, but that also gave me stuttering.

CPU usage is about 60% so I don't think DXVA is working..

Have a nForce 730a motherboard with onboard Geforce 8300 GPU

Any ideas what to do to also get Live HDTV to work?

Anyone?

And could someone please post a picture from graphstudio when watching Live HDTV channel so that I could see what it should look like

How do you connect the pc to your audio system. Are you connecting it directly to a TV or are you using an external decoder/receiver? From the log I see ffdshow is sending the audio through the hdmi cable of the onboard ATI card.

[edit] during install, did you say YES or NO to the question about spdif passthrough?

That means DXVA was not working.
Becouse if yes, your CPU usage will be ~10% max.

It might be worth taking a look at the latest SVN thread, specifically cfforce's post as he's been having trouble with the latest SVN and Cyberlink/PowerDVD decoder with HDTV as well.
