Hi!

I rolled back to SAF v4 from SAF v% because I had some serious playback issues in v5. Now everything is fine, except for one thing: ASS subtitles aren't animated. They show up when and where they should, but the animation isn't there.

My setup is: Acer Aspire Revo 3610 (Atom 330, nVidia ION, 2GB RAM), video drivers are latest from nvidia site, SAF 4.00 stable, MePo 1.1.0 final. I selected not to install DirectVobSub when installing SAF, maybe I should have? I'm using MePo internal player.

just got a special question about MPC in SAF4

when i change some options in the MPC-Options - (not in MePo config)
does it have effect in MediaPortal if i use MPC video codec ....?

couse i think since i disable FFC-show video decoder in MPC options --
BluRay runs smooth under MediaPortal ...

maybe thats just imagination ...

Just installing SAF v4 Final and it's saying that I don't have the right version of MP, even though I've got 1.1.0.0 Final installed.

Edit: Don't worry I've just seen this is mentioned in the FAQ.

More importantly, I'm having trouble getting AVI/DIVX to play with MPC instead of ffdshow. I deselected those formats in ffdshow video config, and now graphstudio doesn't show any video decoder, just ffdshow audio decoder. MPC Classic plays them with MPC (low merit).

Edit: I think I've managed to fix this by adding MPC Video decoder into graphstudio, from where I could click on it and add DIVX to the formats it decodes. Surely there's an easier way to do this though?

Edit2: No, that didn't work. I can render the avi in graphstudio fine now, but MP says Unable to play. Video codec is XVID (ticked in MPC Video decoder) and Audio codec is AC-3

CyberLink Video/SP Decoder (PDVD9) for xvid??? This decoder only suport MPEG-2

I've got no idea what that entry in the log refers to. I don't think that MP config even lets me set the decoder for XVID/DIVX files does it?

What I had to do is go into MPC decoder config and de-select XVID/DIVX as formats it decodes and then MP reverts back to using ffdshow. Before this I tried changing the merits of the MPC and ffdshow decoders, to no avail.

Is it not possible to use the MPC decoder for these files in MP?

I have a problem with stuttering for DVD playback when using SAF 4 unlocked (i.e. both with MPC-HC and MePo). The strange thing is that I do not have this problem when playing the DVD from PowerDVD 6. In fact in general to me, the picture also looks sharper with PowerDVD. Any thoughts on this? I have searched now for a couple of hours without result.

I have a NVidia 7600 GS card on my XP SP 3.

Thought I'd post up and praise SAF v4. I was having issues with some files refusing to play. All I got was a quick black screen and the file marked as watched. It had all worked before and I'm not sure what had changed.

I've being using the ffdshow tryouts codecs as I only need the very basic of things on my config. I've installed the latest SAF v4 and my troubles have disappeared. Great little package too especially with the extra tools.

As a bonus with the change to SAF v4 I've noticed my CPU barely breaks a sweat whilst playing back HD movies. Oh Joy!
