Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

zicoz: its no stupid question, but yes, MP ist configured to use it. tried all different options there, no difference. see screenshot
hoborg: I tried that with SAF4 this afternoon, and now again with SAF5 unlocked. This time it worked - no passthrough install and the graph is correct. Using stereo is better than nothing, but any ideas what to do to get HDMI-passthrough to the AVR (i.e. where to change things)? Changing the FFDshow Audio mixer filter to "same as input" didn't do the trick.
But one step closer, thanks :)

[edit] maybe somehow changing "default sound device" to "realtek ATI HDMI audio" as audio renderer?
[edit2] ffdshow audio is added in video postprocessing

Then remove it and enable automatic decoder settins in MePo and try again.

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

I actually found a solution in another thread where somebody had the same problem.

When activating passthrough in output, I only heard noise. Hoborg, in that thread you suggested, that this is a driver issue and not codec related. So I checked the audio drivers and configuration in windows - there was indeed an option to check to allow DTS/AC3 passthrough via HDMI hidden somewhere. Now AVR shows DTS being used correctly. Well, thats simple -.-
Thanks a lot for your help ... and hoborg, many thanks for continously perfecting SAF and fast responses!

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

Hello hoborg,
And thanks a lof for all your work with SAF, I'm a fan.
I had a problem these last days when installing the latest SAF 5 SVN100825, my Satellite cart stopped working properly, I obtained the error "unable to add bda mpeg2 transport information filter" in the log when trying to view a channel. I think this is because of the "integrated MS DVB hotfix (WinXP only)" in this latest version. I'm on Vista, so I understand that this hotfix should not been installed for me but I think it did it anyway because when I tried then to uninstall the SVN100825 and I installed the previous one SVN100823, everything worked properly.
I think it is important for you to know this.
Thanks

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

I've just updated SAF to the latest SAF version *unlocked*. (Uninstall old SAF, install SAF 5.00 SVN100825)
Configured windows and MP 1.1.0 for watching Digital TV source

But now i can't watch video's anymore.
Playback not possible
Video codec: avc
Audio codec: ac-3

I've configured as discribed in the first post
I'm using windows 7 64bit, spdif passthrough, EVR, Intel CPU E8400, Nvidia 9400 IGP
MP 1.1.0 Final, watching digital TV: Win7 video decoder (Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder) for both MPEG-2 and H.264
automatic decoder setting is enabled, nothing in MP postprocessing!
Ffdshow audio output, enabled ac3, dts, connect as pcm first (= default settings during install SAF)
BTW: CoreAVC 2.0 is installed, but not (yet) configurured to combine with SAF.

Has this playback failure to do with the setting: enable automatic decoder setting in MP ?

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

I have AverMedia H788 Hybrid DVB-T card and I also today installed version 825a that broke my TV...installed 823 and everything works ok...

Also agree with ced007 that it's the included DVB hotfix that killed it...personally I don't think it should be included in SAF...just a potential for trouble...

Hi.
Thanks for info!
Can you send me your SAF logs?
Can you check if you have "dvbfix" in Windows folder?

I checked the SAF code and i didnt found any problem. At last SAF didnt install it on my Win7.

You mean playback of local media (MKV/AVI/etc...) or LiveTV?

I have AverMedia H788 Hybrid DVB-T card and I also today installed version 825a that broke my TV...installed 823 and everything works ok...

What OS do you have?
Can you check if you have "dvbfix" in Windows folder?

New SAF SVN

SAF 5.00 SVN100830:
- ALL - MPC-HC filters/player updated to rev. 1.3.2371
- ALL - FFDShow updated to rev.3549
- ALL - fixed problem with DVB hotfix on Vista/win7 (sorry for that...)

OK.
Try to play your video in Graphstudio - does it work or not?
if not disable audio passthrough durning SAF install and try agaiin.
If yes, try to play it in MePo then send me your MePo and SAF logs, i will take a look.

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

Hi.
I just uploaded next SAF version.

BTW, if anybody wants to test something, please try setup MePo like this: (remember to remove FFDShow from MePo postprocessing if you have it here!!!)
saf5_video2.png

This should fix passhtough of AAC, WMA, FLAC, etc...

Please try and report!

Tried this setting on 2 different machines. Both times with failure. On my laptop here at the office, it refuses to play xvid and h264, both times with Unable to Play message. A DVD dump on hard drive does play, but with horrible tearing. I'm up for more testing later today. Just got back from holidays and need to do some work-related stuff after updating MP :)
