Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

To all who use SAF passthrough and have problems when FFDshow audio decoder is added in MePo postprocessing - this issue should be fixed on MePo side, but i dont have power to fight for it just alone :/

Reported here.

Hi.
I just uploaded next SAF version.

BTW, if anybody wants to test something, please try setup MePo like this: (remember to remove FFDShow from MePo postprocessing if you have it here!!!)

Please try and report!

Well, if you mean subtitles in TS files (or LiveTV) - this is completelly on MePo hands, not SAF.

Yes, I do mean TS. subtitles. I'd like to know if MP even does this. Are there subtitles available to display at all? I know this will sound grouchy, I guess it is, but there is a frustrating lack of information on this matter, no clear answer on subtitles/CC in MP TV, and I was hoping that someone here could provide some since this part of MP (codecs and renderers) is your field of expertise. I figure if there are captions, you might have come across them and could let me know how to display them.

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

In latest SAF build i did some VC-1 changes.
Now all VC-1 files will be decoded by FFDshow by default and not by FFDShow DXVA or MS DMO decoders - this will increase compatibility. Subtitles/audio strem switching is supported, subtitle rendering too. Now all VC-1 files should be working - but they will be not using DXVA.

Probably we will need a separate version for low performance PCs like Atom-based ones:)

If your GPU support VC-1 DXVA, you can enable it in FFDshow DXVA decoder (but it will broke VC-1i playback).

[BTW sorry guys, this is off-topic for SAF thread, but hopefully answers his question.]

odysses, can I assume you are receiving TV in the US? If so, join the club. I've looked all over, and my impression is that MediaPortal does not -- and probably will not -- handle closed captions for TV in the US.

My understanding is the developers have put out requests for assistance from US-based programmers, but so far no one has answered the call. They need someone on the team with access to US broadcasts.

Yes, I can. But 90% of users expect out of the box functionality and don't like to explore available options. That is why so many people like SAF. It works out of the box.

You are right, but i will enable VC-1p DXVA by default (your request) and 10 more users write - hey, i cannot play VC-1i any longer...
I didnt see way out from this :/
