Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

Yes, I can. But 90% of users expect out of the box functionality and don't like to explore available options. That is why so many people like SAF. It works out of the box.

You are right, but i will enable VC-1p DXVA by default (your request) and 10 more users write - hey, i cannot play VC-1i any longer...
I didnt see way out from this :/

Here I am in 10%, so your decision it right :)

Can installer handle it (DXVA/compatibility installation)?
VC-1i is it Ffdshow DXVA limitation? Are they going to fix it?

Yes, i can add option for this to SAF installer, but one of SAF ideas is minimall user interaction. Well, lets wait and see :)

Whole VC-1 format is one of most general fail Microsoft ever made, there is so much problems compating to h.264...

VC-1i is not limitation of FFDShow. FFDshow (and most of all open source player) is based on FFMpeg and here is the source of limitation - FFMpeg still doesnot support VC-1i decoding. I read somewhere to create VC-1i decoder will take ~110h of programing.

Right now SAF setup FFDshow to decode VC-1 using OS libraries.

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

I am getting an install error about choosing the right version. either 32 or 64-bit? I am using windows 64-bit and I haven't had this problem before. Is there a 64-bit version? (which would be no good in MP anyway).

This is for 816 version.

???
There is no SAF x64 version.

Does this mean I should use MS DTV decoders for everything on my new Asus Eee 1215N laptop (Atom 2x1.8 and ION2) running WIN 7 HP X64, and MP 1.1 with FTR as a TV client setup (TV server runnning on separate machine)?

I just bought it and being happy with SAF 5.100816 on my several XP SP3 clients, I just installed SAF on the new WIN 7 HP X64 machine...
But TV drops frames like crazy - even with MS DTV decoders. SHould I uninstall SAF, and will it remove everything - including the directx updates (are there X64 specific directx updates meaning I now installed wrong ones?)

I never tested before installing SAF...

cheers
jacob

Win7 x64 have both x86 and x64 cores, but x86 app run little slower.

There is no known problem related to Win7 x64 and MePo if i am not wrong.

What is a good rate of dropped frames on TV? I've currently dropped 92 out of 22500 frames does that mean it's a smooth experience? (I've not watched it just had it running while working to get some numbers.)

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

Hi there, after a clean reinstall of win7 x86 and mp 1.1 final I wanted to use SAF5 instead of other codec packs. Local SD files work fine, but h264 files (correctly using DXVA) have no sound. The graph also shows, that the ffdshow audio decoder is not used (attached). Any idea what could cause this? Do I have to install another codec for HD audio? I checked passthrough on SAF5 install, but also tried without (and configuring ffdshow audio not to pass through and playing stereo). SAF logfiles also attached. Any help appreciated.

Might be a stupid question but you did set it up to use FFDShow Audio in MP config right?

    Hi.
Reinstall SAF, do not enable passthrough - does it works in graphstudio?
