Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

About the unistall procedure.
I uninstall SAF 5.00 for each new SVN and run the installer. And i have always to replace two files, i think they don't remove with the unistalation. Later i will try again in home and post the names of the files.

This don't happen with anyone else?

Not for me at all on 3 systems - 2 XP and one Win7 x64...

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

    Hi!

Yesterday, I upgraded my sytem from a Geforce 9300 to a ATI 5570 and installed the latest SAF 5.

PDVD10 for TV decoding works quite fine, no frame drops and everything smooth.

But now, I have the problem that video/audio is massively out of sync (more than a second) while playing a bluray rip (m2ts). I'm using ffdshow for audio and video. Both sound and picture are playing fine, but they just don't belong together. At the starting of the movie, the picture stucks for a short while and I think, this time remains as difference from audio to video. Pausing and skipping does not help as a workaround.

What can I do? I never had this issue before with earlier versions of SAF and the Geforce 9300.

There seems also to be a messup with drivers (somebody surprised? :)). I write here some notes, may someone can use that.

NVIDIA Card (GT 240), using 186.91 drivers. PDVD10.

With new drivers I got some problems (falling back to 16 bit, not switching refresh rate correct, incorrect hdtv desktop resize and more)

With 186.91 i just observed a strange thing: I had 720p with 50hz refreshrate, and EVR graph was like this: /\/\/\/\/\/\/\
Then i switched the "change the signal or HD format" to 720p50, and I got smooth playback with nice graph. You're reading correct. Both are theoretically the same. But it makes a difference.

With 186.91 I cant set p24, even with custom resolution. Even with 60 or 59(,9) i did not manage to get smooth playback.

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

    Hello Hoborg,

I tracked my issue with audio out of sync down a bit further and installed all later versions. Since saf500svn100401 it is broken and the last working version is saf500svn100331.

I'm playing the bluray "Die Buddenbrooks", video format WVC1, audio DolbyTrueHD. The sound is outputted via analog output as stereo.

I enabled the OSD for showing the sound jitter value. Skipping the movie leads to a audio gap und the jitter value then rises up to -10.000ms ! So, it's really totally out of sync.

Then I tried different ffdshow versions directly from their svn. Since rev #3342 it's broken and #3336 is the last, that's working.

So it is one of this changes:

Alex, if you are using SPD/IF passthrough and have ffdshow added to post proccessing, remove it from post processing and try to play it again. This is just a blind guess at a quick glance, but i know it sucks when you want to watch something on a friday night and nobody is home to help. I had to check something for work and religiously check the MePo forums when I am online.

Good Luck, hope this help until Hoborg is available.

PS. I'm sure he's going to ask for logs (if he hasn't already), as well as if it plays in graphstudio.

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

    Hi!

    Thanks for replying JS.

I'm currently not using any passthrough. Later it will go through HDMI, maybe then the situation is different. In media portal I don't have anything added to post processing and in ffdshow dxva I switched Postprocessing from "Surface Overlay" to "Disabled", but the situation is the same. The same problem occurs in MPC-HC with this decoder pack. If I use MPC-HCs own audio decoder and the ffdshow video decoder from SAF it also works in media portal, so the issue is really sound decoder related.

I attached some logs. I started the movie from beginning and sound was ok, then I made a skip step forward 1 minute and then I have a huge sound jitter.

The problem does also show in Graphedit. If I start from the beginning, everything is fine - If I make a skip forward audio jitter was going up to -15000 ms.

    Regards,
