I just installed it and noticed one thing:

You cannot disable the subtitles if there are subtitles in the same folder as the video file. ffdshow loads them automatically and you cannot disable them in the MP Menu.

How can I confirm that DXVA is used?
I have a very old CPU (Athlon XP 3500+ Singelcore). I used to play 1080p with MPC and DXVA worked great (CPU 60-70%). Now with SAF and ffdshow DXVA the CPU runs around 90-100% during Playback. It works, but I'm not sure if the hardware is really used?

what Mediaportal Version?

be sure that u have chose the right codecs..
(in MePo 1.0.2.0 u can look if DXVA is on - didn't find that option in MePo 1.1.0 RC1)

You will se new FFDShow DXVA video icon when DXVA is in use.
And you can configure FFDshow so disable/enable subtitles by key pressed.

Ah sorry, I thought everybody can see the system specs I entered in my profile. I use 1.1 RC1 and I've set "ffdshow DXVA Video Decoder" in the MP Config to decode H264.
I don't see a logo anywhere, I don't think it works...

I tried to play a 1080p file in MP -> CPU 90%-100%
When I play the same file in MPC with the MPC DXVA decoder enabled, the CPU usage is around 35%

My System:
MP 1.1 RC1
Windows 7 Ultimate
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (2,20 Ghz, Singlecore)
Nvidia GeForce 9500 GT

And you can configure FFDshow so disable/enable subtitles by key pressed.

EDIT:
I also tried to change the DXVA Settings in ffdshow. Ignore Aspect Ratio etc. because I don't know if the file that I'm playing is really 100% valid. However, no change. Although, the MPC decoder uses DXVA while playing that file.

New SVN available for testing.

- Renamed to SAF 5.00

- New FFDShow now support BlueRay subtitles (still experimental)

Does ffdhow have any benefit above the PowerDVD codec?
I'm running on an unlocked version 4 right now and use the PowerDVD codec for mostly everything.
In short: Qualitywise would ffdshow be better ?

No, FFDShow DXVA decoder is replacement of MPC video decoder, not PDVD.

PDVD is for liveTV.
5.00 is the same as 4.00, but MPC fac replaced by FFDshow.
