Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

... I just go directly from the PC via digital CO-AXIAL to the speakers so I didn't think I was supposed to use passthrough.

Then sample please (use MKV merge to split) - take one where i can reproduce it.

I tried splitting the file with mkvmerge, however, the file that it generates after I split it with MKV Merge is playable in MediaPortal, which means that it's the OGM container that SAF 5.00 doesn't like. I am trying to find an .ogm specific splitter tool that works in Windows 7 x64 so that I can split it without changing the container in any way.

If anyboby interested in VC-1i DXVA decoding testing:

    I created this test build

If you have unlocked SAF, new message popup durning install and ask if VC-1 DXVA should be enabled.
If you enable it, you will be now able to play VC-1i in *.M2TS files using DXVA but you will loose switching between multiple audio streams and subtitle support for all M2TS video files with VC-1 (i/p) video streams.
This can fix some VC-1p playback problems too.

Please test and give me known if i can add this feature to regular SAF too.

Tried yesterday, work great with Vc-1i, but it breaked all my BD vc-1 p for example Avatar BD i can't switch to my language :(

if is possible manage differently vc-1p and i would be great :)

    it's up to you ;)

Nope, there is no way how to auto separate VC-1i and VC-1p, sorry. I already ask to add this function in to FFDShow, but still nothing was changed.

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

Is the remark in the installer of saf 5 abuot the catalyst version for a ATI 3200 still true? If so, maybe you should add it to the first post too.

I'm using catalyst 10.2 and I'm wondering if that could be the reason for having a lot of audio out of sync's.
Previously I don't know which catalyst I used, but that was with saf 4.00beta+mediaportal 1.0.2
Now I'm running mediaportal 1.1, and tried saf 4.00 stable and latest saf 5.00, but both had that syncing issues.

    Hi.
Acording to my experience, sync issues are mostly caused by using passthough. I personely never seen such problem on my PC, PC at work or my HTPC.

In times when i had ATI 3200 integrated, 9.6 was working perfectly for all. Now i have ATI 5450 (XP) and 5770 (Win7 X64), both on latest Catalyst, and no problem.

Basically you need to locate source of problem, if you are using passthrough, disable it and try again. Use Graphstudio instead of MePo to play your files, you will eliminate player related problems.

Disable all plugins, skins, etc in MePo, etc...

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

I don't have passthrough enabled, so that is one thing that isn't causing this.
And the sync-problems I only see when watching live (analog) tv. It's not consistent, sometimes it's nearly correct, and sometimes it's way off (while watching the same channel) and I think on some channels it's more out of sync than others.
Also if I stop the tv and playing it again it's mostly better than if i zap from another channel to that channel and watch. (Although I think that is caused by some mediaportal bug, as I have explained here )

ATI HD3200 is too slow for HDTV + the current mediaportal releases, go back to MP 1.0 Final or buy a faster video card. If you have an HT3 CPU you can try overclocking the HT + GPU core.

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

I am looking at upgrading my HTPC to newer version of MP and Windows 7 x32.
If I use SAF 5.00 as my codec pack does it support playing in a player outside of MP
..ie if I want to play on MPHC without starting MP?

I did have a v 4.XX beta ..how do I unlock the full pack for 5.0?
Do I need to send a req via PM?

    Sorry I just looked Holborg's site...forget the 2nd question
    about unlocking pack...Duh!!

still wondering about the first issue though?

Re: SAF v5.00 experimental (based on FFDShow DXVA decoder)

Saf 5 actually installs MPC-HC so you can still use it. However it changes some of the settings inside MPC-HC so that it uses the ffdshow dxva codec instead of the mpc-hc internal filter, there are some other changes too. You can either use MPC-HC the way hoborg has set it up, or change it back to the original settings manually. Because MPC-HC uses internal filters it is not effected by the directshow filters that saf installs unless you want it to.

However Windows media player will use different codecs than it did before you installed SAF.

If you want to install VLC then you can safely install that, it shouldn't effect the SAF installation (it also uses internal filters by default)
