Codecs SAF v6 (based on LAVF) (27 Viewers)

hoborg,

I'm just setting up my Old HTPC (see sig) for someone and with PowerDVD decoder, I was having problems with high render (42ms sometimes). I've just tested with MS DTV Decoder and that seems OK, but wanted to see if you have any ideas as I use PowerDVD on my own HTPC for video and don't have any such problems.

Problem with DTS

I have a couple of MKV movies that won't play audio. I used "MediaInfo" to determine that the audio is DTS and not AC-3. I have all of the audio decoders on all of the tabs set to use LAV Audio Decoder.

What am I doing wrong?

Did you enabled aduio passthrough durning SAF install?

Your VMR9 renderer is outdated. Microsoft released some update for it.

Yes. I enabled it each time I installed and I tried the HD question both ways to no avail. (I did full uninstalls, reboots and reinstalls as part of troubleshooting).

If it seems I am doing the correct thing, then are there things I can gather from the system and post that would help figure out what is wrong with my system? I really thought this should be a simple fix since I had it working before I reformatted.

Try to play your video with DTS audio in Graphstudio - START-SAF-Tools-Graphstudio.

I dont have reciever, so i cannot help you much.

Yes, the sound plays fine with Graphstudio. So I think you're going to tell me that I have the codecs in MePo set incorrectly, right?

Graphstudio shows the movie linking to the LAV Splitter. The audio then points to the LAV Audio Decoder and then to the Default DirectSound Device. I'll keep playing around with the MePo codecs, but I think I've tried all the combinations.

Thanks for the help! Oh, and how does the unlocked version of SAF differ from the readily available version?

Make sure you set Default audio renderer in MePo too.

That's what it was. I had it set to SPIDF. When I changed to "Default DirectSound Device" then it started working for me. Also the "DirectSound: SPIDF" works as well. I knew it had to be something simple.
