AW: Re: SAF v6 (based on LAVF)

I have the following questions.
Is Lav Video Decoder DXVA filter?
In order to use HW acceleration with LAV Video decoder and AMD/ATI HD3200 GPU there is no option to select. only
Nvidia CUVID and Intel QuickSync

Thanks:D

There is two ways hot to use HW acceleration with LAV video decoder:
1) to have nVidia GPU (CUVID)
2) to have modern Intel GPU - Sandy bridge or newer (Intel QuickSync)

So if you dont want to play modern games on your HTPC, Intel Sandy bridge CPU is all you need, there is no need to have extra GPU.

For me and another guy in another board activating Quicksync on my i52390t leads to heavy picture distortion and unwatchable movie.
This problem I have with every file I tried to open - or do I have to anythings else to use quicksync besides checking the box? I use lav video, audio and splitter.

Are you sure you have 2nd genation (Sandy Bridge) of Intel i3/5/7 CPU with Intel HD2000/3000 + latest Intel drivers?

yes, logs added (to the original post). I did not enable passthrough, I just have my (old) amplifier hooked up to the earphone jack of the sound card.

Strange, i didnt see why it should not work, it is simple MPEG audio.
But there is some error about adio switcher was not loaded - this filter is part of MePo, check if it is crrectly registered in to the system. I saw some thread about problems with this filter.

i52390t brand nu with newest drivers

Intel® Core

Then you should report it directly to author.
BTW, are you sure you are using Intel QuickSync decoder and not DXVA decoder?

Intel® Core

I have a Intel Core i3 2100 and I am using Intel QuickSync decoder. It works for me.

If you use the SAF installer (+recommended config as per first post in this thread) you need to:

1. Go into FFDShow DXVA configuration and unmark "H264" under "Hardware acceleration (DXVA) options".
2. Go into FFDShow video decoder configuration and under "Codecs" select "Intel@ QuickSync" for "H.264/AVC".

If you do this and have the latest Intel drivers you should have DXVA without macro blocking (picture distortion).

ok a short update - I got it working now!

Like I mentioned above, wenn I install Saf v6 opening movies takes ages.
Uninstalled saf v6 installed lav 0.44.
First i had only pcm sound - but the reason for this was very simple....
In lav audio configuration the dts dts-hd boxes were not checke .-)

NOw it runs all smooth ! very fast.
I dont know why saf v6 slows file opening down that much
I also installed ffdshow tryouts but i dont use this, I just did this for testing if I get DTS sound or no....

I use the lavf for audio and video decoding now.

just wanted to confirm, that the same is happening here since using saf6. i'm also using a nas and thought this was normal for lav codec, that it takes this long for opening movie files. i thought it was doing some sort of file analyzation before starting playback ;)

hoborg: do you think this can be fixed somehow within saf? thanks!

Under the codec and renderer settings for videos could anyone please tell me what I should be selecting after installing the SAF 6.05 release..? I do seem to remember a picture of this in the first post at one time but it seems to be no longer there.

For some reason I have always found using the older Haali media splitter and FFDShow to be far smoother play back than when I have used the LAV codecs. But maybe I wasn't selecting correctly as noted above..?

    Thanks

I dont have NAS, so i cannot test i myself.
Firstly, we need to found the source ot the problem, so i am aking again:
Can be FFDshow video decoder the source of your problem here?
Try reinstall SAF, durning the instalation, enable LAV video decoder. After the install, go to FFDshow video decoder/FFDshow DXVA video decoder settings, and disable h.264. Now if you open your MKV in graphstudio, LAV video docoder should be in use.
Please report if this helped or not.

The pictures have not been there for me for a while now. I notice at the bottom of Firefox it shows...

connecting to www.volny.cz......Even when finished nothing shows and no add blocker is used.

I assume that could be where the images are hosted....?

    All I see is...

The same applies when using any other browser.

    No worries though :)
