I just ran some test with my NAS and ffdshow and did not have a long delay (SAF 6.0.3, MP 1.2.2). I am using MKV file format with a movie that was SD and not HD. I was able to introduce more delay when the power management for the NIC was turned on, but that was for either codec. If someone can provide me with the setup which is having issues I will try it on my test server. Which codec is being used, what version of SAF, what file format (SD or HD), any modifications made to SAF.

I am heading out of town for work, so it will be a couple of days before I can test.

LIke i Said in one of my posts above, this problem didnt happen with an older SAF version, then I upgraded and it was there.
Only thing that helped was uninstall - and reinstall of LAV only.
    Now it all is fast.
SAF version was 6.04 happend for HD and SD - one particular sample mkv file in 720p took ages to open, whereas another 35gb 1080p file opend fast

    Hi alegend

Can you also try and see if the below works for you...

If you use the SAF installer (+recommended config as per first post in this thread) you need to:

    1. Go into FFDShow DXVA configuration and unmark "H264" under "Hardware acceleration (DXVA) options".
    2. Go into FFDShow video decoder configuration and under "Codecs" select "Intel@ QuickSync" for "H.264/AVC".

If you do this and have the latest Intel drivers you should have DXVA without macro blocking (picture distortion).

    hey FreeFrag...
i read your post before but at this time I alrady uninstalled FFDSHOW - but does this have any effect when I had my MP set to LAV as video splitter/decoder and lav also as Audio?
I will check if it works when ffdshow is uninstalled when im back home and if yes I will install ffdshow and use ur settings

whats your cpu load using quicksync compared to not using it?

I will check again more detailed when I get home but I made a quick check the other day...

Playing a standard bitrated 720p MKV....

    Libavcodec around 10-30%
    Quicksync around 5-15%
