It's just normal banding and block artifacts from heavily compressed MPEG2 video (it's UK Freeview CH4+1 I think - AFAIK that channel is only 544 x 576 resolution and low bitrate, so I'm not surprised it looks like that....your GPUs noise filter might improve it, or the FFDShow video 'deband' filter works quite well)

Tony

Yeah, it is Ch4+1.

OK, perhaps STB use some filter to reduce the appearance of these artifacts, judging by some comments from people who say they don't see these on their STB.

I'll try the FFDShow deband filter but I'm using LAV and I'm not sure how to add ffdshow as a postprocessor. I've got ffdshow audio processor being used as a PP, but there's no ffdshow video processor, only ffdshow video decoder and raw video filter.

    Hi.
You are using offline unlock, right?
You need to download new unlock package, check unlock instruction again. Or simply use online unlock :)

    big thread ...

    @ hoborg

    maybe a stupid question:

is your SAF6 based on LAV the same which comes in the 1.3.0 Alpha?

couse i build a new client @ home with the 1.3.0 alpha on it.
works good so far - but i miss the PDVD12 codec for HDTV (h.264).
and the win7 codec and also the LAV codec make stuttering..
(didn't had that problem on winXP with SAF5 and PDVD for HDTV.)
and i am not sure if i should install SAF6 only because PDVD12 for TV.

    best regards

    Hi Hoborg !
LAV codec don't support DXVA for DVD movie ?
    Hi.
Not right now, but who cares? :)
Even the oldest Intel ATOM CPUs can handle DVD decoding without any problem...
Me :p ! look my system spec. i have an old AtlhonXP ! and system is not ready for change ...

i had AthlonXP 1800+ and never had problems with DVD playback even without any DXVA available.

But.. do you really expect that this 8-year old CPU (from december 2004) is able to do anything fast enough? one-core technology is VERY outdated. I do not expect that my old cellular phone from 2005 with WinCE 2003 can play any video without judders...
