Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

hoborg, do you mean that is possible play also vc-1i with powerdvd ? HW accelerated ?

Yes, of course. Just disable VC-1 decoding in FFDshow, playback should fall back to PDVD11. But if you want subtitles, you need to use MePo subtitle engine.

ok as usual for me :)

as soon as possible i'll try :)

    thank you so much

Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

    SAF 6.00 SVN20110531 out
    - MPC-HC filter/player updated to rev. 1.5.2.3158
    - FFDShow updated to rev.3866
    - LAVF updated to .28
    - PDVD decoder updated to 1.0.0.2913 (604.zip) - *unlocked* SAF only

Please, test new PDVD decoder revision in LiveTV
There is a problem playing h.264 *.ts recordings outside MePo - LAVF doesn't like FFDshow DXVA decoder and crash the player. Disabling DXVA in ffdshow dxva decoder or use PDVD decoder will fix that issue.
I've just upgraded from first SAF 6.00 alpha. I'll post back if any issue, but a first glance, all is ok here (after some registry/merit personal tweaks :p ). Why do you want us to test PDVD decoder in LiveTV? Any new feature/fix available?

Yes, I got the same issues after upgrading to Catalyst 11.5. Using Shift + 1 it showed that the actual FPS were about 17 at 50 fps material. You already know the Catalyst 11.5b Hotfix? Download

I also found out that the stuttering disappeared after changing the settings in Gaming Section to:
AA & AF: Let App decide
    VSync: Always On

Maybe the AA & AF settings interfere with the Video Settings of Catalyst. But don't know if it's really the cure.

I found that setting AF in CCC (11.4) caused problems with video playback. Morphological Filtering also messes up the fonts, so make sure that's disabled as well.

    Hi.
there is no need to configure anything, all is preset.

Sorry but I need to know the ins and outs of things to feel confident that they're set up right. I'll ask elsewhere if you don't want to discuss it.

If you want HW deinterlacing, you need to output in NV12. If source is progresive, RGB32 is best quality output. Simple.

Yes thanks, that's what I thought, but that's not what my question is. My concern is whether using different colorspaces (NV12 for PDVD/LiveTV, RGB32 for ffdshow/everything else) will mean some things won't look right, as obviously my TV can only be calibrated to one or the other.

I applied the hotfix you mentioned, without changing any settings.. I watched a movie for about 5 minutes and it didn't appear to stutter :) Will do some more testing tonight when I can watch a movie through.

This have nothing to do with TV...
    Here is processing chain:
    Decoder colorspace outpupt -> GPU -> TV(monitor).

What outputing GPU have nothing to do with SAF.

Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

    Hello,

I have a dumb question, but Ok: I have an AC3/DTS compliant amplifier, so I use passthrough for these formats. What would be the benefit for me going to SAF 6? I'm using 5.02 at the moment, with no special issues, but sometimes have "blocky" image in HD TV - would my unlocked SAF 6 work better using PDVD11 than my current SAF 5 with PDVD10?
Thanks in advance for the explanations!

    Hi.
Why you just dont try it?
You can always revert back to SAF5.
