Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

you could still use ffdshowaudiodecoder ;)

I guess. But I haven't had ANY crashes since I moved to SAF 6, and I think not using FFDShow for audio is responsible for this. If I use FFDShow audio postprocessing I should be able to enable it only for forcing 24Bit, right?

Edit: With FFDShow installed as well and chosen as Audio Codec for Videos I now have all types of audio working. Waiting for MePo to start crashing randomly now like it does with 5.02. :) I really hope it won't though.

    Thanks

For me it's quite the opposite :)
Saf 5.02 is sooo functional on my system and SAF6 makes it worse. LAggy video in online video etc.
But hey I am on an OLD system so I am happy it works at all :)
The only thing not working for me in SAF5 is Bluray with DTS-MA track but I rarely (never?) play blurays so it's not a biggie.

You could always install SAF6 but use ffdshow audio instead of LAV audio.
Or maybe use LAV audio with ffdshow audio postprocessing and convert from 32 bit to whatever works for you.
I have tried this and it works for decoded audio but then I get problems with passthrough (maybe you can create profiles for this but never bothered to try.

My System is pretty old as well, click the My system-link to the left in my posts. :D I re-installed SAF 6 and chose to install the last option as well, then pretty much just went with FFDShow sound instead of LAF for videos. I haven't tried any online videos because I mostly watch h264 material (TV Series) and movies for my kids (h264 with ac3/dts or the odd avi with mp3 sound).

But for a while I have been getting lots of crashes and I think it's some bug in FFDShow since MePo has been running great since the change in codec to SAF 6.

I'll have a look at the online stuff then. :p

Back to MP, I get sound but no picture. Here's a sample of the file. I'm really confused so I hope you have some ideas once you've looked at the file.

The sample works for me in MP when i rename it from .ts to .m2ts

I tried that before and it didn't work but I reinstalled the latest version of SAF, renamed to m2ts and it now works. Thank you. Can anyone explain to be why that works?

I think it’s because all .ts files use the MP internal TsReader.ax, .m2ts and other files use LavSplitter.

AW: Re: SAF v6.00 (based on LAVF)

Bitstreaming of the dts-hd hra audio track of the movie "Transporter 2" does only work, when I played another movie with dts-hd soundtrack before. This is reproducible whenever I switch of the AV-receiver and turn it on again. If I directly play "Transporter 2", then the movie starts, all filters (LAV audio, PDVD11 and Default DirectSound Device) are correctly connected, but the receiver does not show an input signal and is silent. This happens for ffdshow audio as well and also in GraphStudio. When I then just start another movie with DTS-HD sound is working for the started movie and playing "Transporter 2" then also works.

Does anyone also has such a problem? Now, the question is, whether it is the splitter, the audio filter, the ATI HDMI driver or the AV-receiver ... How can this be further investigated?

I use latest SAF and latest ATI driver.

Is that file really valid? I was not been able to play it in any player...
What splitter should be used in your decoding chain?

    Just try : Madflac->ac3filter->renderer

    Only static noise...

I tried that before and it didn't work but I reinstalled the latest version of SAF, renamed to m2ts and it now works. Thank you. Can anyone explain to be why that works?

Becouse MePo TS reader failed to play your file. By renaming it to m2ts redirect splitting to LAV splitter.
