    Another thing to know. Don't set HDMI2 to "PC" on the samsung TV
    Settings -> Input -> Source List: HDMI2 -> Edit name -> click blank, don't select "PC"
    Naming input as "PC" disables just scan for 60hz signal

    Hi Kiwilunglist,

    Things seem to have been going well since using the 50Hz setting, however for the first time, I used my DVD drive directly and had blurr again, so I read back to this post.

    You mention a 25Hz setting - could this have been the issue? Unfortunately the DVD has gone back to the shop, but could it have been "NTSC" instead of "PAL" as you mentioned - what is NTSC?. Also, if I ripped it to disk, could that have helped rather than having the machine read from the disk?

    Regards

    Graham

    NTSC is USA DVD, NZ + UK DVD's should be PAL
    PAL = 25 hz / 50 hz
    NTSC = 30hz / 60 hz

    Wrong hz causes stutter not blur. Ripping movie from dvd -> hdd wont change hz unless you do something special to it.

    Hi,

    Thanks for that info - interesting - appreciated!!

    Yeah, stutter may be more descriptive - basically the picture stops and starts again on a different frame.

    So do you change the Hz setting when playing DVD's depending on format to combat the problem?

    Regards

    I'm not sure if this has already been answered but I had similar issues with the picture not filling the entire screen when using HDMI/DVI. It took me a little while but then I turned on the Size->Screen Fit under Picture Options. I have a Samsung UE40B7070 so it may be different from yours.

    to check stutter hit SHIFT+! ensure fps stays within +/- 0.5 of target fps

    Mmmmmmmm ...... didn't know that function existed!!! thanks!!

    I take it the target is 50 ave fps - appears to be keeping within the .5 tolerance you are talking about. Also mention jitter - sometimes 2 to 7. What is dropped? This sits at around 40.

    I also changed it to 60Hz and there was no difference? Should I expect there to be?

    TV3 appears to be outside the tolerance though - sometimes down to 46. Jitter around 15.
