I am experiencing the same or similar problem.
    Running MP1.1. RC1
    Win 7 x86-64
    Hauppauge HVR 1600 for ATSC

Anything schedule through the guide doesn't record, but does show red in the guide.
However anything schedule manually based on time records fine.

This was all a clean install.

I currently don't have access to my logs but will try to post them later.

I used MP 1.0 RC2 for a long time with no problem and was a little surprised to run into the issue when I had to upgrade (hardware driven).

I am confident that it will be resolved. Keep up the good work.

I downloaded and compiled the latest svn and I was wondering if it's supposed to fixed or not. I still get failed recs and this in my logs

    2010-03-31 20:39:05.022213 [scheduler thread(9)]: subch:0-0 tswriter StartRecording...
    2010-03-31 20:39:05.025213 [scheduler thread(9)]: SetRecorderPids
    2010-03-31 20:39:05.043214 [scheduler thread(9)]: Set video / audio observer
    2010-03-31 20:39:05.045214 [scheduler thread(9)]: DVB subch:0 Started recording
    2010-03-31 20:39:05.049214 [scheduler thread(9)]: card: WaitForRecordingFile - waiting _eventAudio & _eventVideo
2010-03-31 20:39:20.054073 [scheduler thread(9)]: card: WaitForRecordingFile - no audio was found after 15,0018581 seconds
2010-03-31 20:39:20.058073 [scheduler thread(9)]: card: WaitForRecordingFile - audio and video stream is scrambled

If I start Mediaportal when it's suppose to record the recording kicks in and all is fine. But if MP if not started all recordings fail.

So I was able to get it to not record a scheduled program again. this time it was all in the family at 8pm (cst) on March 2nd. Here is what I did to create this problem:

    1. scheduled two simultaneous records for 8pm (star trek and all in the family)
    2. at 8pm I checked to see what was recording, all in the family was missed
    3. when I checked the guide I could see all in the family marked in red, but when I tried to select it I got a message saying "an unknown error has occurred"
    4. delete the scheduled recording for all in the family, which subsequently made the program listing not red anymore
    5. attempted to select (play live tv) all in the family again and still got a message stating "an unknown error has occurred"
    6. attempted to select a random channel (play live tv), at this point the tuner worked and was able to play the channel
    7. I then went and selected all in the family one last time and it played (live tv) successfully.

    logs enclosed:

Please let me know what I can do to help track down what is incorrect.

I have revisited your logs and I noticed the following:

From the highlighted lines you may notice that the video is detected before TVServer set the audio/video observer (the observer is an object that waits for the video and audio before recording can start), so it misses the detection of video and times out after 15 sec.

Please try the attached dll. It was build based on latest SVN so it my fail on your system. As always backup original dll before copying new one.

A followup on my previous post that may be helpful to others.

I am using the schedules direct plugin and it is pulling schedule fine for my North American market.
I disabled epg grabbing on the tuner cards and disabled the dvb-epg grabbing options.
I scheduled a one shot recording thriugh the tv guide and it recorded.

I will now try it with a repeat recording option for a program.

If you use the built-in DVB EPG grabber, does everything work? This would possibly rule out a bug in MediaPortal. As I am sure you will understand, the team cannot fix bugs for 3rd party plugins.

    Best wishes,

No. The dvb epg grabber never pulled guide information through ATSC over the air for me. So no guide.

That is what drove me to the Schedules Direct plugin.

I have the same problem. So I tried switching to xmltv instead of SchedulesDirect.
    Before xmltv;
Schedule a recording: It would be hit or miss on if it would record but most of the time it would not.
If I would manually go to the channel it would either give me an unknown error message or it would record.
If I would get an unknown error message, I would have to go to another channel and then back to the one I would want to record. This would allow me to record that channel.
I have set the tuning delay to 2 seconds under the general tab and it didn't seem to help.

    After xmltv.
Tried recording two shows at once. One show recorded no problem. The other would not record.
I then exited Mediaportal, cleared logs, deleted all recorded shows. Then relaunched Mediaportal.
I then tried to record the same two shows. Neither would record. I then did the dance as stated above. I could get one program to record and not the other.

    I hope this helps.

Reading this thread I must say that my problem fits here also ([confirm] Recording failing on some channels - MediaPortal Forum). I am running on a 64 bit windows 7 machine. It was working much better before on a 32 bit vista installation. I ran RC1 on the vista installation without many problems since the release. Then 27-3 I decided to reinstall using 64 bit windows 7. So it is a clean install, with an schedule export from RC1 imported. Now I have all the recording issues mentioned.
I did figure the service just dies very often, so the schedules are missed becuase the service is death or the tuner is in a useless state. I have both issues, some times the service dies during the day and stops doing anything, sometimes the recording starts, runs a couple of minutes and then dies, from that time on no scrambled recordings can be created due to the fact that the tuner reports the channel as scrambled. A shutdown solves this problem.

It seems this problem is very difficult to investigate. I would advise retesting in the upcoming RC2 since a lot has been fixed in recording scheduling and other parts. If it still occurs there please file a new bugreport.

I would love this RC2 to test it for these problems, but it seems to become another RC blackpit. Please do not keep adding bugs to get fixed else we have to wait 3 motnhs again. Leave some work for RC3. See if these problems are solved before progressing to other fixes. We are here to test, we hae the problems and can easely test these problems.
