I am having problems with recordings intermittently now starting.
I had seven recordings set up last night to record (to test), and none of them started. After a reboot, a recording did start.

Today, when another recording failed to start, I shut down mediaportal and ran a debug startup (logs attached).
A recording was schdeuled to start, and hadn't.
I set up two scheduled recordings, and waited till they should have started - they didn't.
I then went to guide, and manually launched BBC1, and then the recordings started.

Any ideas how to make this work reliably?

Anyone? Did I post this in the right section?

I cannot tell you how to fix it but here is the reason:

It does try to record the shows but it cannot because your card gives an error:

Code:
dvb: RunGraph returns: 0x8007001F

This is the same error you get with tuning the channel manually BUT:
In that case MP will try the next available card, which recording does not. When you are then succesfully tuned, the recording uses the existing tuned card and will succeed.

Hmmm interesting.
Can you tell which card gives an error?
Is it a faulty card, or is it a software problem?

Which card: The logs are a bit long to tell that.
Card of SW: Not able to tell.

It is not only the 0x.... error but also various no signal / pmt timeout errors.

If you look in tvserver_tv.log you can see exactly (look for "failed" or the posted error message)

My system has been doing a similar thing recently. It was very reliable for months, then started missing recordings. I thought it was only on wake-up, but yesterday it happened while the machine was already on. A couple of days ago I even tried a complete uninstall and reinstall of MP (not the user files), just in case it had got corrupted or something.

It seems to go through the motions of recording, but then just stops. Almost as if there is no signal or the card won't tune. Could it be a problem with my tuner drivers (although I've never changed them) or just weak signal (although it always works straight after a reboot)? Or even some sort of hardware problem?

After a failed recording, the system seems to become extremely unstable and usually hangs if you try to do anything else in MP (such as check the epg to try to start the recording manually)

Logs from last night are attached. It was supposed to record BBC1 at 22:08 on the 9th. It didn't start recording, then hung completely when I tried to start it manually. On reboot it kicked off straight away.

Any ideas or suggestions very welcome - my system was extremely reliable until this started happeneing, and I've got no idea what has changed to cause it (it's a dedicated machine, so doesn't get used for other stuff). I have installed v1.1.1 now, but the problem appeared before the update, so I don't think a version change is to blame.

It doesn't ALWAYS fail, BTW. A couple of recordings worked properly last night. But I reckon it's probably failing more than half the time at the moment.

Im having the same problem, last night 2 scheduled recordings didnt happen, I tried to record a show this morning and it did record. I restarted the PC and it will record. Im guessing that the TV Server restart reset the problem.

Do you think that regular restarts of the TV server may correct this problem? can you schedule the TV server to restart at 1am for example?

I had problems with TV recordings after updating from 1.1.0 to 1.1.1. Eventually I completely uninstalled MediaPortal and did a fresh install of 1.1.1 which solved the problem.

Did you uninstall all the user files as well? I uninstalled and reinstalled MP, but not the user files (didn't want to have to set up all the channels again). I wonder if the problem could be in the user files or database.

On the other hand, this problem appeared on my system before I installed 1.1.1, so I don't think the version change is what caused it.
