I did a complete uninstall including user files and registry entries. Before that I did an export of TV channels and groups from the TV Server config and a complete backup of MediaPortal using BackupSettings (which includes all configuration, plugins etc.). I did not include TV server settings in this backup to make sure that I don't export and import the problem itself. All this can be configured in BackupSettings. The whole procedure took about an hour and everything was up and running again.

OK, thanks. Perhaps that's what I need to do then. Still, it would be nice to know what is wrong in case it's something I did that broke it...

There must be some knowledgeable person on here who can deduce something from the logs, mustn't there?

I did a complete uninstall and reinstall on Monday night. All I reimported was my channel settings and groups. Everything else set up from scratch.

Hasn't cured the problem unfortunately. Quite often the system will wake up from hibernate (either manually or for a recording) and not run MediaPortal - it just hangs on the desktop or on a black screen. Sometimes pressing a key on the remote will kick it off, sometimes only a reboot helps. I don't know if that's related to this recording problem - although it should be TV Server doing the recording so it shouldn't matter if the MP front end app crashes, should it? Still, something is definitely not right here... Might try reinstalling drivers for MS IR remote, graphics card driver, disable antivirus (AVG free with recording and timeshift directories excluded)...

Any other ideas on things to check?

It's annoying because, as I said earlier, my system was really stable for months and I've got no idea what changed to make it suddenly go wrong.

I think I've sorted the black screen problem by giving the machine a static IP (rather than a reserved IP on DHCP server).

It seems like my original problem is not just recording-related. The whole tuning part of the TV server seems to be broken after resume, so I've started a new thread for it.

QUICK UPDATE: My problem seems to be EPG related. Turning off the DVB EPG grab cures it (but obviously I have to do manual EPG updates now)
