Hi,

I have been running MP RC2 for quite a long time but I reinstalled it with MP RC4 today. I have not had any problems with the suspending/resuming of my RC2 installation but now with RC4 my TV remains blank when I try to resume the HTPC from standby (S3). Nothing but a reset/reboot of the HTPC seems to help.

Any ideas what could cause this strange behavior?

I will do that later today

I noticed this morning that it is MediaPortal itself that gets in 'Not Responding'-state and locks the whole XP.

EDIT: The "restart Mediaportal on resume"-setting didn't help.

Mine did that when resuming from hibernate with RC4 (even with "restart MP on resume"). I turned off the new "alternative full-screen splash screen" and it hasn't happened since (but it's only been two days, so not a real test).

My system has always (or at least for quite some time, certainly since I installed TVServer) had a black background when resuming from hibernate (i.e. doesn't display the Windows desktop or icons) but the MP splash screen appears over the top of this. With the new full-screen splash screen in RC4, it would often just appear to hang on a black screen, but came back to life if I pressed a key on the remote. With the old-style windowed splash screen it doesn't hang.

No logs I'm afraid - I'm at work. I may be able to replicate the problem and post logs later if people are interested. I'm using an nVidia card, so have always enabled restart on resume (both for tvServer and MP).

Plase post the logs, otherwise we cannot do anything about the issue. I already have a idea what is going on, but cannot confirm until I see the logs.

    I've been testing..

... but I only have issues sporadically, however often after the machine has been suspended over the night, in other words for hours. I haven't been able to reproduce the problem this evening. I post the logs as soon as I catch the issue again.

While I've been testing I noticed an another issue that I also observed in SVNs that was released for RC2. The problem is that the HTPC suspends after 5 minutes (as defined in the powerscheduler plugin) when I'm watching DVD:s but not when watching regular TV. That's kind of annoying..

    Ok, here comes the logs..

    BR, gunck4

ok, it was not the issue what I & Seidelin were thinking of:

    2008-12-04 10:05:45.500000 [Info.][MPMain]: Main: WM_POWERBROADCAST: 18
    2008-12-04 10:05:51.500000 [Info.][MPMain]: Main: WM_POWERBROADCAST: 7

Both messages are sent correctly by the system.

    2008-12-04 10:10:22.250000 [Warn.][MPMain]: Main: ***** OnDeviceLost *****
2008-12-04 10:10:22.265625 [Info.][MPMain]: d3dapp: An error occured in OnResize - Error in the application.
    2008-12-04 10:10:22.296875 [Debug][MPMain]: d3dapp: RecoverDevice called
    2008-12-04 10:10:22.296875 [Debug][MPMain]: d3dapp: DeviceLostException

Somehow the MP cannot get DirectX device to work after S3. Unfortunately I dont have any clue what could cause it.

But it worked in RC2.! :)

tourettes: Do you think this is a GPU-related issue? I would have a possibility to try with a Radeon X1900 GT GPU as well..
