thx for your feedback.
If I understand your post correctly, you describe a feature request. The idea behind ScreenControl is to manage screen functionalities, not computer management. Currently I wouldn't include this, if there is more feedback - no problem. To realize this, I don't need more than a half day.
But have you tried SleepControl? In this plugin you find the requested functionality. You can create a small timer, map a key to your remote control and with a few clicks you can start the standby or shutdown mode.

A second possibility is to use the brand new PowerControl plugin.

Micropolis: Nice intiative, this plugin! The screen jump and power control features look promising. However, it's not usefull for me because of -i think- i'm using two videocards. Here's my problem: i've got two radeon3850's and catalyst control center (v9.6). On gpu1, i've attached a lcd tv and a touchscreen, both in 720p clone-mode. On these displays MP runs in the living room. The actual pc is situated in another room (room2), where another lcd-monitor is attached to gpu2. This all works nice, i can do just about anything in windows on the lcd-monitor in room2 while mp runs simultaneously in the living room (have 2 audio outputs as well).

With the screencontrol plugin enabled, this is no longer the case when mediaportal is not the active window. In this situation, the display in room2 stutters i.e. when moving the mouse it only updates every other second or so. When mediaportal is the active window, stuttering stops again. This seems like an extension of the 'known problem' in your manual.

Furthermore i found a bug (maybe also related to 2 vidcards): i can move the brightness control slider in the plugin's configuration window, but it's value (default 128) does not change. Once i save settings and reload the plugin's configuration, the adjustments i made to the slider are implemented, but new adjustments -again- need closing and opening of the plugin's configuration. Also, the 'test brightness button' has no effect. I've tested adjusting the brightness from within the CCC, and this works just fine. Note: i tested this on the lcd-monitor in room2, while screen selector is configured to run mp in room1. Maybe this is the cause?

To pile up my feedback even further, i've also got a feature request: add a screen-specific screensaver to screencontrol! This is THE missing feature in MP if you're asking me... Already being able to launch .exe's and having resolution control means this wouldn't be to difficult i guess...

your configuration sounds like interesting. Because I don't have this equipment, it is not possible to re-create or fix this problem.
All developed functions (brightness change, turnoff) use Windows API routines for primary screen and does not call driver or CCC features, maybe this cause problems. Do you have also tried 3rd party tools for brightness settings? What's the result?
The implementation of requested screen saver functionality is not a problem, the core routines for this exists. I'll added this feature into the next version.

Hello Micropolis,

When I exit the Mediaportal.exe process through Task Manager while the screen is dimmed by Screencontrol, the screen stays dimmed. Is there a way you could fix it so that it resets to the original value as soon as Mediaportal is not running anymore?

Hi Zinu,
if you "kill" the MediaPortal process with task manager, a normal application and plugin shutdown process does not longer work correctly. Please try the attached version, I've made some small changes to exit procedure. Please give it a feedback, if it works for you.

EDIT: Attachment removed, because changes are included in latest version v0.5.5.

Damn, I'm sorry, I totally forgot about this!

That fixed it! Now just before shutdown it returns to the original value, so no more dimmed screen after the killing of mediaportal.exe Nice work, one step closer to perfection!

thx for feedback, the change is now part of the main branch. If you have interesting suggestions or ideas to bring the plugin "closer to perfection", post it here.
Maybe your ideas (if it is possible to implement this) are helpful also for other users.

Good to hear that. So my question would be: should I downloaded the zip file you attached to your previous message or wait for a newer version that includes the fix (v0.5.1 or 0.6.0)??
