And if anyone gives the answer to Rudi99's standby problem, can they let us know how it was fixed.

It seems to be related to the BDA driver. As I have two cards I have to use this driver. But somehow it does not 'survive' S3/standby. The funny thing is that restarting the machine also does not help. I have to reinstall the drivers. Will check if reinstalling TVE3 also helps. If yes then this should be an indication that it is _not_ the drivers causing the problems....

... waiting for reply from Technisat. It is definitely the driver. It seems to have problems with S3, but only for multiple cards. The interesting thing is that only one of the two cards is blocked. The other one is still working after S3 - I test this via the TV server console by assigning a specific channel to only one of the cards, and trying a preview.

By the way, the 80% CPU load appears when the TV server trys to use the broken card for EPG refresh.

Rudi99, can you confirm this?

Frank

sorry, no, can't confirm this. But maybe it's because i have WinXP and you have MCE2005. If my MP fails with "timeshift / graph"-issue, a normal restart helps. No reinstalling of drivers etc. neccessary.

2 days ago i was nearly at a solution for my problem, yesterday the problem reappeared... but i#M working on it to find out, if it really is only caused by the "waiting for tv-server"- oder "startup-delay"-times...

what i also will check next are the whole channels, if there is one corrupted (new channel-scan).

I could not confirm this myself. Restarting the PC helps for me as well. What I would like you to confirm is whether both cards are not working after S3, or only one of the two. And, it the answer is only one, if you can also see 80% CPU load when TV server tries to use that card for EPG. I am trying to collect information for Technisat. No reply yet, however...

Technisat answered my part: BDA 4.4.3 "not yet" included in latest Beta. (sounds like: "but will be in final 4.4.3")

I will try to test this as soon i have the time to (not today). EDIT: tested, read below

actually no, I will try to test this as soon i have the time to (not today). EDIT: tested, read below

EDIT: after the timeshift/grap-issue, the first card seems to be blocked: the channel mapped to this card doesnt worrk, the channel only mapped to the second card works.
About cpu-load: did you mean something like that (see screenshots attached)?

Looks like we are in exactly the same boat :) I do not have any reply from Technisat yet. Did they say when 4.4.3 BDA will be available, and will it fix the problem?

I have written a batch file that stops TvService, restarts all Skystar2 devices, and restarts TvService. It uses simple delays that account for TvService shutdown and driver startup that may not be long enough yet. Plus there is certainly a better way to handle these timings, by actually waiting on their completion.

Maybe you could give it a try. It could be run immediately after resume from suspend. You need to take care not to start TV in MP too early...

the batch works: if started after timeshift-/graph-error tv is working again.

But i don't know yet, how to automatically start this batch and restart MP after resume:

calling it from "tv-server - plugins - powerscheduler - advanced - run command before standby/after wakeup" by "C:\Programme\restart skystar2\restart_skystar2.bat" doesn't work and MP-WIKI says it would be started before AND after resume. Here only after resume is needed.
if mp-config is set to "restart MP after resume" then MP is restarted without the batch.

Try this tool for example: Hibernate Trigger

It may be sufficient to only restart the drivers, and let TvService run. This will only work if TvService completely closes the driver connections before suspend, and if you let it delay driver re-initialization after resume. In general, driver restart only works for drivers that are not in use.

I will write a program that does the work of stopping / starting the service, restarting the driver after resume, and querying the system for progress on that actions. I already have the source code of the "devcon" tool, and know how to start/stop a service, but this will take some time. Hopefully Technisat will come with a solution soon.
