yes it should, but you need a fast h.264 DirectShow filter. On a side note I'm not sure Canal+ actually broadcasts free-to-air h.264 programmes. Please report back if it works.
BTW DTTB (DVB-T or ATSC thru aerial) is the international word for TNT, solely known to French people.

.
sorry I can't. It is theoretically possible to do so. If you can tune in to your channel then the DirectShow magic should handle the rest. I've never been able to test it out myself simply because I live in an area without any Mpeg4 stream available. However a friend of mine has reported watching Astra HD Promo so it *should* work alright (mind the emphasis on 'should').
The highest DirectShow merit prevails. Or maybe the easiest solution is to uninstall any codec you won't have a use for.
I'd really like to know whether one could (easily) watch a h.264 stream using the current TV engine. Please keep me posted because divergent reports regarding this feature appear from time to time in the forum.
A great features could be if I can select my preferred H.264 decoder as i can select my preferred decoder for SD TV, DVD and Movies. In My system I have Cyberlink H.264 (what I would like to use), CoreAVC (I will remove it), and NeroHD that works only with nero suite. So I guess I get no images in HD because MP choose a wrong decoder but I don't know how to change my situation. I will check with graphedit what happens when I tune LuxeTV (audio yes images no) but when I tray AstraHd I don't get audio and images too.
To other people reading about this 'issue', Doskabouter provided me with a fix/patch. It is a modified version of tswriter.ax which solved the problem with dolby digital plus audio.
I want to thank Doskabouter for all his time and energy he put into resolving this!!

I don't know about MP2 but as you said you tried MP1 too, how is the MP music config ?
MP(1) will only use LAV if you select "Internal DirectShow player" as music output, but then you lose gapless playback.
If you you don't have multichannel music you can choose WASAPI as the output and set the number of speakers to stereo.
I have...
