maybe SQL issue?

Hi Kev,
I had a go getting the EPG Downloader and had some issues (see https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/...der-service-tv-server-only-32166/index12.html). So I switched to the web server and got a little further. The issue I had there seemed gone here but for some reason I got some others.

First a minor issue:
The buttons at the bottom of the window are half obscured below the window as is the version number.

If I select the "add database" check box in the first tab, and then save it gives me a write error - it woudn't let me add the database, I think it might be permisssions, but I added the new user and added all the privileges. When I start the MySQL Admin I get an error, but everything seems to be there and I can see all users and add and delete them.

The bigger issue is that I still can't the EPG downloader running, I set up source (using the xmltv.locost7 - but for melbourne) and wait and wait and nothing is populated to match back against.

I can access the web server via the web interface, so that work!

EDIT: I'm using Version 0.4.0.15, on Win XP3, WM11 and MP1 RC2 with MySQL

Kev one question... what does the EPG Refresh suppose to do? The same as the button in tvserver configuration-manual control ?

cause my epg does not clean when i press it.

Aghhhh!!! 8 Days without Internet

It is now day 8 without internet connection.....

going insane.....

about to buy a ticket to India just so I can scream at someone in the call centre in person....

mind you, it is not their fault, and I am not sure it is my ISP... its just good old Telstra not wanting to do things in any hurry for other peoples' customers...

Anyway, I am still alive, and I have found a bug in scheduling that stops new EPG data being scanned automatically under some circumstances....

Hope to post in the next day or 2.

This is a "borrowed" connection, so hopefully I will be back on the air soon to answer your questions etc.

Heyho Kev,

Commiserations over the lack of internet, like losing a limb isn't it. Hope you get it sorted soon.

I have been using your TV Server EPG downloader for ages, and it has worked really will for me.

I have been using the free-epg.epgstream.net as the source and it seems they are no longer streaming data - can you suggest an alternative, and should I be looking to upgrade to this Web Server thingy, if so what source do you recommend for it?

is there any posibility to add the function of epg grabbing of a certain channel, instead of erasing all epg?

I had to rescan on all my tuners. Since then I'm picking up duplicate channels in Web Interface.

I've set the default group to 'Freesat' and within MediaPortal I don't see these duplicates, where are they coming from and how can I get rid? Also the duplication doesn't show in TV Server channel setup.

Just to add a bit more info to this problem. I'm using 4.0.15 version and I started with a new TVServer database to try and clear the problem. However, after I combine channels in TVServer between my DBV-T and DVB-S cards, this is where I get duplicate channels showing. 1 with epg data and 1 without.

For example I have BBC 1, 2, 3 & 4, ITV and Channel 4 available on DVB-T & S so I combine the channels. It is these which show as duplicates. Below is a screenshot, as you can see it shows the 'Freesat' group which within MediaPortal itself does not show these duplicates. Neither does gemx's MP TV Client.

Kev how about adding a vertical or horizontal (depending in which mode u are in) line that shows current time? makes it so much faster to find what are they putting next without having to look up and down the time bar.

oh, also another thing. just to see what u thing. when u do a search and u get for example 5 reults, maybe u are interested in recording all of them, when u click to record one of them u are taken back to "guide" page, why not just stay in the result table page to be able to select another one.

edit again... oh and btw, my wrong character is already fixed, it was a mediaportal bug which they have solved in a SVN, now everything is working.

Thanks for your patience, there is a lot to work through I see.

I think that the duplicate channel listings can be fixed without too much trouble. I will look at this first.

I am nearly finished the new improved remote control stuff that will allow you to manage your music playlists and play music through the web interface. This interfaces with MediaPortal client directly and will only work where the web interface and MediaPortal client are on the same machine.

This will be useful for people like me who have a projector (or TV) as the computer monitor, and dont want to turn it on when only playing music.

good to hear kev.

just another two possible improvements.

1) when doing a search, if there is no result, show a message saying that instead of a blank screen under the web interface menu.

2) if possible, when going to "search" menu, make the writting textbox focus to start writting.

3) When deleting a recording, if one of the 3 steps does not gets completed correctly show a red cross or something to make it more visual than the bold text.

possible issue. when deleting all recordings using web interface, the folder is also deleted, so no future recordings are done until u create the folder again.
