I know that this is a very very small nit, but when in a post and going to the thread tools, show printable version. The resultant screen is missing the MP icon in the upper right corner. See attachment:

maybe setting loglevel to debug might pinpoint the difference between normal and stuck?

Since over a year my MP sometimes stucks while showing the welcome screen. It started once a week now it happens every second time...

I don't know about MP2 but as you said you tried MP1 too, how is the MP music config ?
MP(1) will only use LAV if you select "Internal DirectShow player" as music output, but then you lose gapless playback.
If you you don't have multichannel music you can choose WASAPI as the output and set the number of speakers to stereo.
