I didn't have that on my system so I had to get it from http://www.free-codecs.com/MP4_Splitter_download.htm
registered with regsvr mp4splitter.ax
opened the MP config and removed the setting as described
restarted MP
tried playing a trailer (oblivion - Tom Cruise looking pensive!)
cannot play error

Sorry, you're right i forgot the mp configuration... Codecs section - video - disable use splitter checkbox
