Re: [SKIN PREVIEW] Avalon HD - From the Maya Team

Any chance you could add the age rating icon to the movie details screen? perhaps next to the resolution and audio icons. With various ages of kids in the house it would be good to see at a glance whether we should avoid a film at certain times of the day, you can't always remember off hand what rating a film has :)

Other than that, it really is a lovely looking skin! I love the toggle switches on some menus (could they be wider to make them more distinct?), the EPG looks fantastic (I love the vertical bar at the current position) and TV Home layout is both different from anything else I've seen, and a great idea!

looking forward to testing this one :)

Even though I knew it would be good, when Joost showed me the first initial mockups, I'm still amazed about how great it has turned out! I love it :)

    I'm a sucker for details ;)

Btw. I love how well the "newest items" is integrated in the basichome layout... In most skins these look a bit out of place but here they fit in perfectly... :)

Re: AW: [SKIN PREVIEW] Avalon HD - From the Maya Team

    Hi,
can anyone tell me how 'heavy' this skin is gonna be?
I am about to switch my hardware to a new AMD Zacate E350 platform which will be less powerfull then my current system.
As well right now my MP setup with the StreamedMP Skin is not very smooth, its very resource-intensive ('heavy').

So i would be happy to have an idea about how these two skins (Avalon and StreamedMP) can be rated depending on their heavyness.

    Thanks!

I can't tell how heavy this skin will be, but I can give you an advice to get a smoother interface.

My graphic card is a ATI 4290 (very low level), I did the mistake to set all settings for 3d in the CCC (driver control center) to maximum. After a while I encounter that MP is running with 20-30 frames and the interface stuttered a lil bit. But now I set all 3d settings to the lowest (no anti aliasing etc.) and now MP reaches 60 frames per seconds and all is very smooth now with StreamedMP (you find the frames per seconds in the settings within MP, where you set the text scroll speed). Hope it helps.

But turning those settings off (fx .vector adaptive antialiasing) will also degrade the picture quality of live tv. Will it not?

I think we can add certification logos on the details screen...:)

I don't think so, all stuff you set for 3d are for real 3d objects and video is encoded by the installed codecs. Only the interface of MP is real 3d and all filter like anti aliasing are applied on the MP interface.

    slap me when I'm wrong

Re: [SKIN PREVIEW] Avalon HD - From the Maya Team

Will the home screen allow sub-menus?

I'm guessing from the screenshots the answer is no - although i could see a submenu appearing where the 'recently added' covers are
