@ Jay_UK , The test system I'm using is kinda lower spec running with an Athlon X2 5000+ with 2GB of ram. On my main HTPC running an Athlon X4 630 with 4GB of ram I'm sure it wouldn't be an issue. I just thought I'd let those with lower spec system know so they don't "end task" and they can give it some time for this super add-on to work it's magic.

The only reason I noticed the high ram usage was the tv-service screen locked up and became non-responsive. During a non-manual update I didn't notice anything everything worked in the background perfectly.

All the file extension are as they should be, I'm currently not using the groups.dict or region.dict files and have them deleted as I only ever use 35-40 TV channels mainly the HD one's so this excellent feauture it's a requirement for me. I've checked logs with and without the groups.dict/region.dict files included each time stopping the tv-service restarting the tv-sevice deleting the channel list and doing a clean channel scan and preforming an epg update. Each time an epg update is done the TSwriter log reads :- "Could not Sky Dict file, please ensure it is placed in the directory with the TSWriter" the times for this entry match the times when I see the ram usage spikes at 900,000K.

I do have DVB-T card on my system with 4 channels selected for TV DVB-EPG update. I'm recording some programs at the moment if I get a chance tomorrow I'll deselect those channels from the DVB-EPG TV update and see if that makes a difference.

Can you post your log files please so I can take a look.

Thanks.

Logs attached, I rescanned this morning with and without the DVB-T epg channels selected no difference in behaviour either way.

By the way I noted the "Could not Sky Dict file, please ensure it is placed in the directory with the TSWriter" error was at the start of the epg grab process before the RAM and CPU spike and not when the spike occurred as I previously stated.

Thanks for your continued efforts on this , I could easy live with the writer in it current state as it works excellently in the background, also I find when I start a manual epg grab If I close the tvserver config menu immediately after I start the epg grab it works with no system hangs.

Just spotted that the Brit Shorts tv channel used for freesat epg has been replaced with a radio channel named Freesat info.
This channel is on the same transponder and works just fine.

btw - Not sure if this has been mentioned before.

That's freaky - mine's still working on Brit Shorts...
Is the new channel exactly the same tuning as Brit Shorts (i.e. just a different name and no video)? Otherwise how am I still getting EPG? There's the "background epg" radio channel (or whatever it's called) as well though - perhaps that covers all the common channels as well.

I think Brit Shorts (or whatever is using the tuning parameters now) is for the Freesat EPG and background epg is for the BSkyB EPG.

Sky do send EPG data on every transponder for all channels however it is only the Titles and not the Summaries.

Summaries are there too for now and next along side the channel.

Have you tried the "update EPG whilst timeshifting"? The timeout of 2 mins should be sufficient. This will update anychanges to channels that are over running.

Yea, unfortunately to make the EPG grabber work while Time Shifting you need to activate every channel you watch and want this to work with, as a result the EPG grabber will go and try to update the EPG from every channel you have set when grabbing the EPG.

I Still don't think it actually adjust the EPG data or recording when it's monitoring. maybe there is something else happening here.

As a side note on the tswriter posted on 6th of feb,

I've had it installed for 4 days along side the latest SVN. I havent had an EPG update yet. I noticed the new option in the DVB EPG section which says Enable CRC check. Does this work or have any baring on weather TSwriter works or not. It was set to on by default and i left it that way. I have turned it off to see if I get an EPG update for sky uk.
EDIT installed the latest EPG grabber and it's got an update with CRC check disabled.

    Hi Guys,

I don't know if anybody can help, but I have recently installed a dual tuner DVB-S/S2 card and I can't seem to find "Britshorts" or "Freesat info"; I have all sorts of other channels though. Is it possible that it is under another name??

Does anybody have the tuning parameters so I can manually add it?

    Many thanks.

EDIT **** Found manual tuning info several pages back****

    @ porky996t

I think britshorts is off the air. I'm 90% sure I've selected ITV-HD which displays as channel 10510 to grap the free-sat epg , it's on the same transponder as the old britshorts channel.

I'm not at home at the moment so let me know if this works for you, if not I'll check later if ITV-HD is selected or if it's something else.

Cheers jobyrne30.... first time for dual cards... A bit if a pain in the butt to set up...

I manually programmed britshorts in... but have found the "freesat info" channel in the radio section - I was looking for it in the TV part.

EDIT *** I've set everything up as the instructions and something is happening... it's all gone very sluggish and I cannot get "TVServer Configuration" to open - perhaps it is the data download?? ***
