As promised.

How would you like to have all your sky channels searched and found in under 25 seconds?

Try this then.

TSWriter 1.1.0 RC1

Ok, I'll try to explain how this works.

Stop your TV Service

Now make a backup of the following files.

TSWriter.ax
TVLibrary.dll
TVLibrary.Interfaces.dll

Copy the contents of the Zip file into your TV server directory.

If you wish to have your Channels grouped, i.e. Entertainment etc.. then rename the groups_uk.dict/groups_it.dict to groups.dict

If you don't want to group then skip that part.

There is a new file added, Sky.cfg, this has 2 basic settings.

GetSkyNumbers=1
If you don't want the sky numbers change it 0 (Zero)

SkyQuickScan=1
If you want to search every transponder then change it to a 0 (Zero)

Ok now thats sorted.

To do a quick scan .....

I would recommend you clear both TV and Radio channels before continuing. You can export your channels first.

In the TV Server configuration, navigate to the Channel Scan page.

Click New scan. Select "Use Advanced tuning options"

Now enter these details.

Frequency : 11778000 Khz
Symbol Rate : 27500
Polarisation : LinearV

Select "Single Transponder Search"

Then click "Scan for channels"

The search will take around 25 seconds and you should have around 910 channels, 770 TV and 140 radio. This method will find the channels that aren't "switched on" for example if you searched at 9 in the morning it would still find BBC Three etc..

If you have and faults then please post them in here and I will take a look into it.

Thats great... I tried it just now and it took under a minute to grab all the channels. The EPG fully populated too now I'm using the Sky instead of Freesat option, so very happy with it now! :D

:D

Just thought I'd mention a potential bug with your latest SVN.

I used both DVB-S and DVB-T (I have a Pinnaccle 7010ix)

The DVB-S with quick scan worked really well, but when I tried to grab the DVB-T it just returned about 40 "Unknown" channels. I've since reverted back to the official TSwriter etc and it was able to pick up all my ~63 DVB-T channels as usual with correct names.

Not a big deal, as I only have to scan for the channels once.. But just thought I'd mention it. :)

UPDATE: Just noticed the ITV HD channel (10510) wasn't found on the list, I went to scan for it manually Frequency: 11427000 KHz Symbol Rate: 27500 and the channels it found and updated were once again named UnknownXXX - I tried setting the SkyQuickScan=0 and had another try at a manual scan and it labelled the channels it found Unknown again. So I switched back to official TSwriter again and it found and named the channel correctly.

Apologies in advance if bug reports not supposed to go here.

Thanks DJBlu, I'm looking forward to trying this. I tried your last release with the RC1 candidate last night and it worked a charm. I'll wait until your fix above is posted and I try and report back to you.

This is brilliant! Thank you very much.

I too am having the same problem with ITV HD. It disappeared some time ago and won't show up no matter what I do. Anyone else having this problem?

Do a manual channel scan on:

    Frequency: 11427000
    Symbol Rate: 27500
    Polarisation : LinearH
    Single transponder

I think it finds 8 channels, one of them being 10510 which you can then rename to ITV HD for ease of use :)

Can you try again with the updated frequency in my last post? I accidentally missed the first 1 off the frequency.. My bad! :(

    Fixed Version.

This will scan all channels and other transponders or Cards.

    Follow instructions as above.

    Enjoy.

I deleted a few channels and did a manual scan with this version, all the names were updated correctly this time :)

Just having a Play around with this on my new windows 7 installation.

This plugin seems to be working well, only 2 channels it doesn't pick up in a quick scan as far as I can see. Sky Box Office HD1 and HD2.

Also tried accidentally on canal digital+ scandiavia/Telenor transponder to find out which card had my diseqc switch on.

Low and Behold it found nearly all the Telenor Canal Digital Scandinavia Channels via the NIT scanning only a single transponder!!!
No channel numbering but that was to be expected really.

This NIT channel scan appears to have real potential benefits beyond sky uk/it and freesat and should be considered as an option to be integrated into channel scanner in future versions of future Media portal versions!!!

Only slight bug that I've run into is using a Skystar 2 pci card with latest 4.5.1 BC2C drivers ( where the card appears as a network card to windows, the BDA drivers weren't compatible with windows 7) the NIT scan doesn't work properly.
It picks up the channels but... lists all but the box office channels and a few porn channels as being on 11778V.

Let me know where the logs are and I'll try to find them if you want the DJ-Blu.
