Seemed to work for me by just using EPG Background in the radio channels or if using Freesat their should be a Freesat Info also in the radio channels

When I try and start the TV Service, it errors saying didn't receive a timely response (the error reply is returned quite quickly).

You probably shouldnt need to but try "regsvr32 tswriter.ax" in a command prompt just to make sure that its using the new library. Try rebooting the pc as well if you havent already

I have tried reboots, reregistering, etc... still no joy!

As soon as I use DJBlu's tswriter.ax the service won't start. It appears I can use the RC2 tswriter, with DJBlu's DLL's and the service starts??

I know the OS shouldn;t affect it, but is everyone else running windows 7?

Try uninstalling and re installing the TV service
Then try replacing it...

Yes running window 7 64 bit here. I know its a real pain and takes ages to set up again, but it might be best to just do a full cleanup and and a fresh install. Ive had to re-install it 4 or 5 times in the last couple of days as I had various (different) problems each time that I couldnt get to the bottom of. Thankfully it seems to be running perfectly now as ive been moaned at a lot the past 2 days! ...

Hi there,

I tried on my test rig and it also failed - I then did a standard uninstall of TV/Client - Then reinstalled RC2, followed by DJBlu's new files.

Good news, this has worked on the test rig

Bad news... the same process has failed on my main HTPC

I am wondering if I have to do a full uninstall (and not standard)?

Not sure what is causing this??

Hi DJBlu

First time user here, and have a few questions that can't find the answers to, not necessarily problems but am not sure of the correct behaviour

1. If I rename the groups_uk.dict to groups.dict should the channels be in the EPG under these groups or do I have to manually setup these groups and move the channels to them?I have found the answer to this I should have checked create groups for each provider in the scan config screen

2. I cannot now use the alert me function for reminder when a pro gramme starts is this correct? No isn't correct for some reason the option for this got unchecked in the MP Configuration working OK now

3. This may well be a problem in the regions.dict i removed the # from 4097-10=England (BBC) / South East (ITV) but seemed to get ITV1 Wales, also amended the sky.cfg to not use the Sky channel numbers eg GetSkyNumbers=0 but still got the sky numbers

I followed you guide that you linked to above and did the advanced scan on that one transponder you say but only got 2 tv channels and a few radio I then changed that and scanned all on 28.2E which seemed to do the job, I may well have done something wrong but thought
I would let you know OK Tried again with single transponder scan and that now seems to have worked fine also got BBC3 and 4 ok

Another question now for the EPG do I just need to select EPG Background to populate? as their is now no Brit Shorts

EPG Background Audio is all you need to select.

yes I always uninstalled with the third option (full cleanup) as I think it ensures that all shared librarys/filters are unregistered/uninstalled properly, all registry keys removed etc. There could just be something simple lurking after uninstall that is stopping it working.

This does delete your database though, so you will lose all your EPG data, scheduled recordings, channels etc.

check that the system isnt low on disk space as well (as in less than 4-5gb free). I had a problem a while back where the tv service wouldnt start when the disk was low.

Its probably unlikely, but it could be something more discrete like the dlls have the wrong permissions after youve copied them.

You could also try just copying the tswriter.ax on its own without the others, and see if it will start with that

Ye I did that and re scanned but still gets ITV Wales strange thing is BBC is ok
