    Hi there,

    Here are some log files.

This is with MP RC2 installed, with your files installed over the top.

When I reboot the HTPC, the service starts, and then crashes.

When I then try and manually restart it, it fails straight away :(

Are you using Windows XP,Vista or 7?

I know it sounds daft but right click the file and save as,

Save it to the desktop and extract the files to the desktop. Then copy them over. This will ensure you aren't using a file from your Internet Browsers cache.

    Hi there,

    W7, with UAC disable.

I have the Zip file downloaded into a local directory, I then extract from there.

Not that it should make any difference, but I've been doing this via RDP/terminal services.

Just a thought but can you try it with VNC?
I've had a few issues using RDP installing stuff (admittedly over a VPN...)

    Hi there,

I can't see that it would cause a problem - I am not "installing" anything per se, simply replacing 3 files (tswriter, tvlibrary, tvlibrary.interfaces.) - Yes I still have the other dict/themes/region/cfg files.

I tried reinstalling the VC runtime - still no joy. But I do have a new error in the logs (see attached) - Not sure if its related or not??

I have attached my logs from after the VC reinstall, they are from a reboot.

Yes I know I have md*pi running - which is naughty - but all the previous tests/results were with it not installed( fresh MP install) - it dioesn't seem to make a difference, but I needed it running so my other half could just watch her program (with the standard RC2 MP files).

    Thanks, :D

Your problem isn't with the mods I have made, its on the initialisation of the TSWriter

You say the RC2 original scans and channels clear?

I too have the Nova-DVBS2 & mdapi and couldn't get RC2 stable enough to use hence RC1.

I can't do anything tonight so I'll install RC2 and have a look into it tommorow.

    Morning :)

again ..many thanks for continuing to look at this for me.

It does seem RC2 with MD*pi works for me - But I will keep testing that combination today.

If we need to keep talking about md*pi - can we take it to PM (don't want the wrath of PD or tourettes on my back) - otherwise I'm happy to keep "chatting" in this thread.

    I too am using RC2 with 2xHauppauge Nova HD-S2 cards (with md*pi) on Windows 7 x64

Jay, have you checked the system event log? Hard crashes sometimes report useful information to there.

From looking at the logs you've provided, the initialization of tswriter doesnt get very far...

DJBlu - where do you initialize your code in the filter (ie read the config files etc)? - is it in the CMpTsFilterPin constructor?

If so I can only think that an exception is being thrown there (exceptions in constructors are usually bad news)

    Hi again,

I tried again this morning, using DJBlu's files.

Same thing as before the service crashes on startup. :(

The following eventlog entry is created:

Faulting application name: TVService.exe, version: 1.0.6.25546, time stamp: 0x4bc47e95
Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.1.7600.16385, time stamp: 0x4a5bdb3b
    Exception code: 0xc0000374
    Fault offset: 0x000cdcbb
    Faulting process id: 0x1134
    Faulting application start time: 0x01caded9d4b090e3
    Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\TVService.exe
    Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ntdll.dll
    Report Id: 144fd8ff-4acd-11df-a4b3-0026188651f8

Looks like I might have to schedule in a full rebuild! :(

    Thanks,

    J.
