Some more news for you.

I have figured out the series link information for Sky. However

It isn't as simple as Episode 1 Series 2. etc.

The way sky link everything together is by allocating a Series Link ID to each programme name

I.E. Eastenders gets id. DA32.

Then the box looks for this information and adds the list of Events with this ID. So it knows when to record the next episode. Its really simple and should be implementable. I would need to discuss this with a Developer as a Modification to the Database will be required and to the TV Plugin.

Should do as no change to the TSWriter has been made.

This would be an amazing addition.

This feature was always going to need an extension of TVServer, perhaps a TVServer plugin would be most suitable as obviously only UK DVB-S users would find this feature useful. Then GUI changes would need to be implemented by skin developers to make 'Series Link' an option.

No more WebEPG - WAF through the roof!

I looked at this and wondered...could it be this simple.

Avoid the problems that WebEPG has had (with RadioTimes.com), using the broadcast EPG directly, so (deceptively) simple.

Dumped this in followed the VERY, VERY exact and correct instructions and it just darn well worked.

All of a sudden this has gone from being good to being stuffin' near perfect.

Once I install 4TheRecord (which avoids me having to scan the schedules once a week) this will be great!

Now with all the (OK, mostly garbage) TV this can record for me, reliably, I think I might have to write a plugin to WATCH it all for me...

Fabulous, I am so glad I stuck with the initial revisions of MediaPortal to get to this..

OH, selling my TiVo on eBay - and gave MediaPortal a plug as allowing me to do this. Nothing bad about good publicity is there?

This sounds pretty cool. What's the implications of using both DVB EPG and WebEPG at the same time? I'm thinking that it would be nice to have the 14 day information from WebEPG for the channels it works on (and when it updates properly!) but use DVB EPG to fill in any schedule changes (Radio Times quite often seems to be wrong) and other channels that don't exist on WebEPG.

If I leave them both on at once will it all go horribly wrong, or will it work nicely if I do a WebEPG update once a week then DVB updates once a day? Sometimes it's useful to be able to see schedules (and set recordings) more than a week in advance (but I can live without it if it'll be too messy).

Give it a try m8,

Even if it doesn't work you can always disable it and refresh your EPG again. Might be an hour wasted but you won't know if you don't try.

I've updated to Vista Ultimate 32Bit (was on XP Pro) and now when the TV Server does an EPG update from the DVB-S2 card the system starts thrashing the HDD and CPU whilst it does it, rendering it unusable whilst it does it! It's not a slow system as you can see from my system specs, plenty capable.

I'm using MP 1.0 + SVN21813 my logs are attached. Can you see if anything is up?

I was hoping MP would act like a Freeview+ recorder, as if I clicked Record on the above programme it would look at the programmes table in the DB where the seriesid equalled KCIEX8, and then would record any episode if the episode id was >= 1RE8PG (with no dups) like the standalone boxes do.

I'd like to thank this user for highlighting crids as I wouldn't have found out how sky series link works.

I can implement Series Link for both Sky and Freesat with a little tinkering. Just need a CRID field in the program table.

I think you don't have enough memory. looking at your system spec you have 2GB. I have done some performance monitoring with djblu's tswriter pulling down the whole FTA epg, I have seen the combination of Tvservice+SQL server take 1.5 to 2G by themselves. Other general vista crud will easily take you over the 2GB.

I run my tv server with 6GB.
