I have a strange problem.. The tick box for Sky EPG keeps becoming unticked on it's own somehow?

I tick it, then it works ok for a while.. Then at some point it becomes unticked - maybe upon a restart of the TV Engine service? After 7 days I then end up with no epg until I go in and tick the box again and grab the epg.

    Anyone else experienced this?

    @ psykix:
Hi, I have noticed this as well. I am running MP 1.2A. It populates quite quickly after putting the tick back in, but shouldn't it stay ticked?
See my system specs for the hardware in my box.
I expect we need to capture some logs to find the cause of this.

I'm using the latest Miroslav from the first post, with MP 1.2.0

As a newcomer to MediaPortal yesterday I downloaded and
installed MediaPortal 1.1.3 which I took to be the latest
version. Everything went smoothly and I was soon able to get TV
pictures etc. All that was absent was the EPG.

Being a former Sky subscriber I was interested in Miroslav22's
    Sky UK/IT/AUS enhancements and downloaded

    MP Sky EPG v1.1 (for 1.2.0 Alpha).zip

However when I installed the enhancement and ran MediaPortal I
    got the message:

TVPlugin and MediaPortal didn't have the same version. Please
update the older component to the same version as the new one.
MediaPortal version 1.1.3.0; TVPlug version 1.1.5.27210

It looks as though it is looking for a version MediaPortal 1.1.5
although I thought I had the latest one. Installing both of the
packages in the MP Sky zip file produced a message indicating
that gentle.* in root did not exist and the installation failed.

I feel I must be doing something stupid and would be grateful
    for any help available.

    Many thanks.

TomPP - you have installed 1.1.3, with the tv-addin for MediaPortal 1.2 Alpha.

There is currently no TV-addin for 1.1.3, you would need to uninstall, and re-install 1.1.2, with the sky epg for 1.1.2 pack, or install 1.2 alpha, with the epg pack you have downloaded.

I am on 1.1.2 and its running great - holding off 1.2 until the beta comes out, and will upgrade then - am really looking forward to the auto-scan feature that is being worked for this, but waiting for some of the bugs to be ironed out and beta to launch before I do my next upgrade.

    Thanks bob808 for your comments.

I removed MedialPortal 1.1.3 as suggested and downloaded

    MP Sky EPG v1.0 (For 1.1.2 Stable).zip

I then installed the two packages in the zip file (MP and
TVserver). During the installation I got the message

gentle.config file not found (Root element is missing) and a
    database query box appeared.

Ignored this and carried on to completion. When I started MP
there was a long delay looking for TV services and after that
"TV connection lost". Then everything ran very very slowly but
    no TV channel ever appeared.

Any suggestions before I give up and go back to the lowly WinTV!

    Thanks again.

sorry TomPP - I wasnt clear - before installing the 2 files from the 1.1.2 stable.zip, you need to install mediaportal 1.1.2 - you can download it here:

    Download MediaPortal from SourceForge.net

once you have installed that, then install the 2 patches from the 1.1.2 stable epg zip, and this time it will work - honest!

Thanks for your quick response. Your enthusiasm has kept me
    going!

I followed your latest instructions and am pleased to report
that I ended up with a working MP with no error messages on the
    way. However no EPG data!

I have unchecked most of the encrypted channels on Astra2 and it
occurred to me that some of these might be the source of the EPG
information. Miroslav22 refers to the "default Sky" channel from
which the info comes. What is that?

    Thanks again.

Just one further piece of information. In the TV Server
Configuration under DVB EPG there is no "Provider EPGs" item on
the list and hence no Grab Sky box to tick.

The pictures and instructions on page1 are for another version of the EPG grabber for use in the alpha version of MP 1.2

To load the EPG using the stable 1.1.2 version do this :-

Start Mediaportals TV Server configuration. Click on "DVB EPG" grabber section -> Tick the "Always try to update existing entries" dialogue box, Tick the "Enable CRC Check" box, Tick the "EPG grabbing while idle" box and set the timeout to 15 minutes. I have the EPG update every 24 hours so I the "Refresh EPG" section set to 1440 minutes.

Then click on the "Radio EPG grabber" section and select channel called "Freesat info" to get the freesat EPG. Freesat EPG is supported by default in Mediaportal without the need for installing any mods or updates .

If you want to use the SKY UK EPG you must have Miroslavs update installed ontop of the release version( I think you already have this done). To get the EPG data loading In the "Radio EPG grabber" select channel "EPG background Audio"

If using the SKY EPG you do not need to select "freesat info" channel, it's quicker to update if only the "EPG background Audio" channel is selected.

    Hope this helps

    Thanks jobyrne30.

I finally have started getting some EPG
information but only on a few channels (mostly BBC). Presumably
it takes a while to populate the EPG from scratch.

I cannot find the the "Radio EPG grabber" section on TV Server
Configuration. Also there is no reference anywhere to Sky so I
wonder if the EPG I am getting is in fact coming from Sky.
