Sky UK/IT/AUS enhancements (4 Viewers)

Hi,

Regarding getting EPG data for freeview channels from the Sky EPG - Dave, Yesterday, Pick, Quest, etc. I combine them as suggested earlier (the free terrestrial vesion and the encrypted Sky version) then under TV mapping i select the card for my satellite. Then for each channel (Dave, Yesterday, Quest, 4Music, etc.) I double click it to select "perform mapping for EPG grabbing only". (EPG only) appears after the encrypted channel name and Mediaportal will not try and tune to the encrypted version for watching/recording. All EPG data appears for all channels in my guide.

I do this for:

4music
challenge
dave
dave ja vu
five usa
fiver
quest
pick
pick +1
viva
yesterday

all have epg data from sky but always tune to the freeview terrestrial version when needed.

Hi,
OK I now have epg data for channel 4 hd. I basically deleted all of my channels and re-scanned. I think the channel id etc. must have matched some older entry. All working fine for me now... Now all I need are new icons for the new five channels...

I could have done that this afternoon!! - I got dragged around the shops by the OH looking at soft furnishings...what a waste of four hours of my life.

Hi Guys,

Just gone up to Mepo 1.2.0 from a fresh install and have noticed that the following channels don't seem to be getting epg data:

Sky News
Starz TV
DanceNation TV
WTF
Lava

I have ticked EPG Background Audio and Freesat Info but still nothing. Is there something I'm missing??

Hi guys,

There is at least 1 bug here I think.

If you have no EPG data for a channel, check that:

You can tune the channel - If not then the channel has moved or closed down. You need to manually delete this channel and re-scan for it. I know this is a pain but the MP channel scanner doesn't adequately handle channels that move or close down.

If you can tune the channel then the Sky grabber isn't finding it in the database. Go to kingofsat, lookup the channel in question and check that the service id, transport id and network id are correct for the channel in question. If it is then try deleting the channel and re-scanning as above.

Once 1.2.0 final is released we'll hopefully look at re-working the scanning code so it can handle this better.

It was excellent for organising the channels into the appropriate groups, and sorting the channels depending on your region.

This is where I am back on it!



I am currently working on the TSWriter so we can add custom PIDs. It will then pass the data back to the TVServer so we can do with it what we like.

Takes out the requirement to modify the TSWriter all the time.

What I ultimately want it to do is allow you to tune to a channel and it will constantly monitor the channels, if an update is found then it will update it.

This is a loooong way off as I need to implement an EPG/Channel plugin system so we can write modules that can be loaded individually.

It should assist people wanting to write other plugins such as Teletext/Red Button, DVB EPG to XMLTV/other formats etc. The list is endless as you will have access to the raw data without interfering in Playback.

It will work like this.

Plugin adds the Pids it wishes TSWriter to filter, TSWriter will then deliver the packets pertaining to those pids to the plugin via TVServer.

The plugin then manipulates the data and updates the database as it needs.

I have been extremely busy at work so haven't had any time to work on this project but now I do so I'll be looking into it.

A little more patience is required. It will be worth the wait.
