Skype currently has no way to get the Avatar picture for a user - the change to the API is requested/under development, but as yet no real delivery date.

I suppose I could let you assign your own within MP, though, at least until the API changes arrive...

V0.1.0.7 available - experimental interface changes

Version 0.1.1.1 is available - see https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/sh...&postcount=168

This version is mainly about trying to streamline the interface a bit more. The main changes are

- Moved the Call/Hold/Stop/Video/SMS buttons from the GUI to a new Context Menu dialog;
- Changed the scrolling Status button (top left) to a button that invokes a menu dialog
- Extended the Contacts list back down to the bottom of the screen

Looking for comments as to whether this is an improvement over the previous version...

So

- Highlight a Contact and press the Context Menu button ("I" on the MCE Remote, or the right-mouse button) to Call or Send SMS (when the contact has a mobile or is SkypeOut) (You can only initiate a new Call if any current calls are on Hold);

- Highlight an Active call to Hold/Resume/Stop/Send Video as appropriate;

- Press the Status button (top left) to get a list of available Statuses (Statii?) and select one.

Still have to use the Left-arrow to do most navigation round the screen - I think this is going to require an update to the List Control to fix.

Hi, havent tried this plugin but have an idea i have been trying to get together for some time. Since you already have the framework ready i will share it here. Lets say you have a "control" mode in the skype plugin and create a MP user in skype. This could enable me to write commands to MP and get some output. It will be a very sophisticated remote control as an alternative to the webinterface.

Lets say you want to show todays recordings, you can just send a msg to MP like "Show next TV shows". MP will then report back to you with a list of today´s recordings. Then you can pick one and send back "Record XXX". You could also do things like "What is playing", "Stop", "Play some music", "Dim the lights" and stuff like that. Also, MP could send status messages on events, like "Movie has started, Lord of the rings". The possibilites are endless.

Ok, this is not the most practical plugin. But it has a high gadget factor. Also, Skype goes through NAT so you dont need all that router setup and DynDNS crap you need for a webinterface.

And with the framework allready set up i dont think it is that much extra coding. Allthough i dont remember how to query all those recording and such, but i know there is a class somewhere storing it.

What do you think?

I'm in the process of adding Skype Chat to the plugin - this might bring your idea closer to fruition...

I would do this as an extra plguin - Skype4MP could pass on any chat messages received that match whatever protocol is defined to the extra plugin, and send responses back (or provide an API to do so). I don't see it as part of the Skype plugin, apart from perhaps being able to intercept particaular messages.

BTW: Note that Skype uinder Vista is a lot harder (if not impossible) to get running as two different users on the same PC - the Run As trick apparently doesn't work (it might be later versions of Skype don't, rather than Vista).

If you want to take this further, I'd suggest starting a new thread, since in theory it could actually use MSN Messenger instead of just Skype - my point here is that the messaging system doesn't matter, really, so it should be built carrier-agnostic...
