Anyone got any advice to speed this up??

Did you reinstall XP after you changed components onto a cleanly formatted drive.

If not you may have some leftovers from the previous hardware, which are causing the problem.

All windows updates installed ok, this i have taken for granted.

virus checker can be diabled, to prove that is not giving a problem as with any anti-spyware.

So with little or no extra software installed, shutdown time is xx seconds.

The only other thing is drivers, again this is to eliminate what may seem obvious Device manager does not show any problems (have had M$ install driver for my DFI nvidia based motherboard that was incorrect) make sure drivers are the ones installed from the motherboard CD or DFI internet updated ones.

If your memory modules are 2 x 512mb, try swapping them, or removing one at a time to see if any difference found.

The problem always used to be blamed on M$, especially windows 98SE, but not seen it since, only on some badly written software that refused to shut down, but that was third party.

Does sound more a driver issue if it occurs with only XP and drivers installed.

Well, all that remains is to find someone who will add this render if it is a render.

4.5 is really old. I'm not sure 4.5.5 even is a version that actually existed. You should be able to install .NET Framework 4.8.0 on Windows 7 SP1

I used to use the grabber but a few years back it disappeared on FreeSat DVBS. That is when I changed to EPG Collector. The extra benefit is that it collects from the Sky platform so it will give EPG for all the FreeSat channels plus the unencrypted movie channels on the Sky platform. It also allows me to pick the channels dedicated...
