You could try and install the backup-plugin for TV-Server (to keep settings and recordings etc.) and then uninstall MediaPortal AND delete the database from MSSQL. This should force recreation of the database.

ok... now the whole story... (sry forgot this because i tried too often...)
clean installation -> fails to generate gentle.config
copying back the old working gentle.config to %programdata%\...\...tv server
starting tvserver config -> unable to upgrade database
database "version" = 57
i am currently downloading 27200... will report back in 5mins

? i did not do anything manually in the DB...
the database version is 57 after the installation.. i just replaced the empty gentle.config with my backuped one...

Sorry, i misread this then:

database "version" = 57
I thought you meant because of the fail you updated it.
Can you supply logs of that fail?

i think sth is going totally wrong for me... now tried 27200 on 2 computers... on both the gentle.config will not be generated and the DB can't be upgraded... i did a complete uninstallation of the existing MP and dropped databases... so what am i doing wrong?

the only log created after installation and after the message, that gentle.config root element not found and database couldn't be upgraded
EDIT:
executed the "deploymode" afterwards... look at "19:56:30.387600" in tv.log.... whats wrong with this?
