Some Bad News for MediaPortal (2 Viewers)

I've tested the MediaCenter inside windows7 as well.
They did improove the TV-Part a lot, but still has some quite major drawbacks.
It's biggest pro is that it is allready installed into the Operating System, and therefore does not need any installation and just minor configuration.
Microsofts MedaCenters are without a doubt good, but mainly targeted for beginners and users which do not have high demands, or special wishes.
If someone is looking for an "easy" MediaCenter, then Microsoft has a good product to offer.

Albert is doing a great job on MediaPortal 2.
But creating an MediaCenter from scratch is an incredible amout of work, and takes a long time.
In the meantime we are tweaking the TV-Server (which will be re-used in MediaPortal2, but in a different way) and MediaPortal 1.
So everyone has a nice MediaCenter until MP2 is ready.

There is no complete roadmap that contains everything that is missing for the first/next release, if you mean that.
based on what albert said recently. about one year is realistic.
There is no way in hell that anyone could possibly receive the same gratification that one does when properly setting up mediaportal to their liking. The level of customization is unmatched.
Sure it is simple to use windows media center, but to be confined into what microsoft wants you to use with the codecs they support and want to limit you to is just wrong. I would much rather have that setup that when people walk into my home and see how much better looking and capable mediaportal is over any common media center that they rave about it (and get super jealous!).

is that 1 year to final product or to seeing another preview?
is albert the only dev working on MP2

one year until MediaPortal 2 should be able to do everything MediaPortal 1 does now
no he is not the only developer working on it, but he is the one who works mainly on it.
right now there are "corefeatures" to be (re)written, and this means that there is just work for a few devs.

Does Media Center "7" support h.264.....this is THE reason I changed and have discovered all the other advantages along the way....At last check media center for vista ws never going to get support....
