Welcome...

I would say your best option is the "HVR2200"...... Just note that there is a bug with this card HVR2200 Radio Bug

As far as the dual-screen display, you might have problems to get it working....do some research on how it works on the forums befor you try.

thanks for getting back to me

Can you explain what you mean by I might have issues on a dual screen?

I dont need to display on both screens, only one, so surely that would simply meaning running mediaportal and simply dragging it across to the other screen? (extended desktop)

with regards to the radio, I wont be using that. Im only going to connect an analogue signal, so it should matter, right?

Cheers

Regarding the dual-screen, I've seen many posts where users complain that MP will not run, or runs slow on a dual-screen setup. I've never run dual-screens with MP so I can't give you advice...but it might be worth the effort to investigate some of the other posts to see how the other users solve their problems.

    Hi :)

I used dual screen a year or so ago in my study without problems.
Just remember to untick "keep MP on top" in general settings.

    hi guys

so I installed the new card I bought... fired up windows media centre and it picks up everything 100%. So I was going through the wizard when it gets to the point where you have to select your remote... I was like, erm, I have no remote! Couldnt continue the setup process without a remote! :(

So I downloaded and installed 1.0.2, and it seems to be working ok! :)

I cant seem to figure out how to drag Mediaportal to my other screen though, coz Im running dual screen. I managed to get creative and switch my "primary" display, open mediaportal, and then cahnge my primary back. Then I can launch my games (or whatever) on my screen in front of me, and medioportal next to me.

I did notice that if in windows (on idle) and I have mediaportal on my second screen watching live tv its quite laggy... but If I load up a game (and my gfx runs at full speed, instead of idle) then the laggy goes away... :)

So thanks for all the help, gonna start looking around for more settings now! :)

In MP Configuration, under General, Enable ScreenSelector and select screen.

Okay so this seems to be the general South Africa thread :) I might as well resurrect it.

I'm looking at the COMPRO videomate E850F, mainly because it has the component input. I intend on capturing the signal from a DSTV HD-PVR via the component interface.

    1) Can I simply use the COMPRO card to input the signal such that media portal will take care of the recording + encoding? The reason I am asking this is because the general perception seems to be that the hardware encoding on the card isn't great - not to mention the limited resolutions available (SD at best, I'm really looking for something that can record 1280x720).

    2) Can the COMPRO card detect the component signal output form the HD-PVR? Or will I be forced to use composite?

    3) If COMPRO is not the route to go, are there any other brands available in SA that will accept a component input?

    Much appreciate the feedback

Hi jabalsad...I'll try to answer as much as I can...

    1) I use a Compro E800 and I'm quite happy with it from a quality perspective...but I think the Haupauge cards are better. As far as a card that can record HD on external input...well it does not exist...sorry.

    2) I'm not sure, I still use a normal DSTV-decoder so I use s-video input...composite is not very good. I can't see why the component would not work, but I've never used it.

    3) Haupauge HVR 2200 would be another good choice, perhaps ask around on the forum about this card...I know there are problems with using the radio.

    Hi Guys

I've been using Myth-TV for years, but my motherboard packed up in December. I bought new hardware and decided to give something else a try. Well here I am testing out MP (a big move considering I'm moving from Linux to Win7 :)). I downloaded and installed MP last night and got everything (TV, EPG, Remote, etc.) working except for blasting channels to my DSTV decoder. I must say compared to Myth configuring MP is a breeze.

I configured my MCE blaster with the IR Server basically following the guide here

When I configure the TV3 Blaster Plug-in and use the Test button the blaster works fine. When I however enter MP and try to change channels the blaster does not send any signal to the DSTV decoder. I believe my channels are configured correctly (i.e. M-Net is assigned to channel 101 etc.).

I am sure I'm missing something simple and I'm probably doing something stupid. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks
