I have a question.... I did the following..

1. Installed MediaPortal 1.1.0 RC1
2. Installed MP-TVSeries-2.5.1.969
3. Installed moving-pictures-1.0.4 (RC2)
4. Configured TVSeries + Moving Pictures database and downloaded fanart and information
5. Installed StreamedMP-0.9.988 - Selected only main files (disabled all the plugins)

Now MP-TVSeries and Moving Pictures are gone from both MP and MP configuration.

Is this the expected scenario?

Cheers

I just tried and run the MP-TVSeries-2.5.1.969 setup again and choose the modify option and just went thru the installer. Now TVSeries is back and the database is intact. :)

But still strange?

The StreamedMP installer contains both MovingPictures & TV-Series plugin, so no need to install those seperate.

Yes, I am totally aware of that but we are here to help testing the new version right?

So what you are saying is that if someone installs StreamedMP on an existing MP installation, so should StreamedMP "remove" TVSeries and Moving pictures if you choose not to install them with the StreamedMP installer?

Ps.The Moving Pictures RC2 was released yesterday and since StreamedMP (988) was released prior too that I wasn't expecting it to contain that specific version. That's also a reason why I choosed to test the installer this way.

    True, very true ;)

I'm not sure if that's the behaviour it should have, but since the installer also does the de-installing of previous version(s), de-selecting TV-Series & MovingPictures in the StreamedMP installer would probably remove them.

It would of only removed stuff if it needed to uninstall itself before upgrading. Did you by any chance have a previous version of mediaportal with a previous version of StreamedMP and forgot to uninstall it?

If on a clean system MovingPictures/TVseries was installed before StreamedMP, and you choose to install the plugins then previous plugins will get upgraded (and reference count will increase). New versions if detected on system will be left untouched...there is no harm just leaving the checkboxes enabled to install the plugins unless you specifically do not want them.

If on a clean system MovingPictures/TVseries was installed before StreamedMP, and you choose NOT to install the plugins. Then nothing will happen, plugins will be left alone but you may experience an warning during install time if StreamedMP detects older version of plugins.

When StreamedMP is uninstalled it checks a reference count, if the count equals '1' then its safe to remove. If not it decrements the count and leaves on system. This is really only reliable if whatever you use to install uses the SharedDlls key in the registry:

    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDLLs

If something is installed before StreamedMP e.g. MPTVSeries/MovingPictures/MyLyrics or whatever and the SharedDLL entry does not exist then StreamedMP will create a new entry with it automatically set to '2' as if it was already there.

It definately shouldn't delete those plugins if you didn't ask to install them. IMO

I did it this way: (3 and 4 just upgraded what 0.9.988 already installed)

    1. Installed MediaPortal 1.1.0 RC1
    2. Installed StreamedMP-0.9.988 - Asking it to install MP-TVSeries and Moving Pictures.
    3. Installed MP-TVSeries-2.5.1.969
    4. Installed moving-pictures-1.0.4 (RC2)
    5. Configured TVSeries + Moving Pictures database and downloaded fanart and information

I am also getting the black screen issue after watching some tv or a video and returning to the home screen. I'm running MediaPortal 1.1.0 RC1 and StreamedMP 0.9.988. I also had to move the MediaInfo.dll out of the MediaPortal folder to get video to play and to stop the movie import from hanging.

Also, in the editor tool I don't think the disable fanart picture being the same across different menu items (I can't quite remember the exact words) function isn't working. Not a big deal because I found a workaround.

I am very happy with the horizontal home screen menu option but I think it could do with a bit more polish. The font looks a bit plain but that could just be me :)

    Yes, you are right. :)

I do think I had a previous version of StreamedMP located on the computer but it was not in use, nor selectable in MP after installing MP RC1. Sure, it would be best to uninstall it first but it shouldn't be necessary.

In my case I could have left the check boxes for TVSeries and Moving Pictures checked, but I wanted to do a test. Also it was not clear that my newer version of Moving Pictures would have been left intact.

If the user selects only the main files (skin files?) and de-selects all plugins the installation shouldn't have to worry about the plugins at all? The installation package still asked me if I wanted Default- or Fanart-oriented setup for MP-TvSeries and Moving Pictures even though the plugins were not selected. Maybe the package still has to deploy the skin files for the plugins, if the user either already have them installed or choose to install them later. In this case I think the setup should go for the default skin settings rather than asking the user?

Sorry for being a pain in the ass. :) But for once I am trying to be the end user....
