Streaming RAR files (2 Viewers)

I've read this whole thread, and i've had to deal with split movies files just like everyone else here. Im not trying to be rude or mean, but what's wrong with pulling out virtualdub, and joining the AVI segments together? Virtualdub also has a job queue and scripting, so if you have a lot of videos that are split, you can setup a queue for them and script the work to complete one night while you sleep.

Im sorry, i just have difficulty seeing the benefit to this feature. IMO media should be stored in its most basic form: MP3, MPG, AVI, etc... not wrapped in more containers or encapsulation methods to complicate the situation.

If streaming rar files would work, I would use the Torrent plugin (if it still works). I don't because a lot of movies still are splitted in rars. So with this feature Media Portal would be one step closer to a full range media solution. Quite a simple, but non the less powerfull addition I think.

The Team MediaPortal Developers are busy with very importand work atm (very soon you will know what i mean).
As far as i know, noone is interested to add such a support.

MediaPortal is opensource, so if anyone could shake off his laziness and create such a feature to support playing rarfiles, then PLEASE DO!

It can be added to svn after it has been reviewed by the Development Team and everyone is happy.
