Hi, those error messgages have nothing to do with signal strength. .
I wasn't suggesting that they had anything to do with TV signal strength - I was suggesting that they had something to do with corrupt video frames caused by interference to the TV signal, causing a high BER. This can result from a momentary drop in signal, or interference from an external source.

They are related to something happening in the vmr9.
Could that "something" be that the frame that the VMR9 was trying to render was corrupt? It would be really helpful if you could throw some more light on what those messages really mean .... please ... :)

Meedio was using BDA drivers, whilst I'm not saying they're perfect either, I still think the problem lies in MP.

    Hmmm - that's interesting.

Just to make sure that we are comparing "apples with apples", have you run Meedio on the exact same installation as you are now running MediaPortal? Same antenna, PC, location etc?

Did you get absolutely "stutter-free" performance with Meedio?

Yep, i'll double check, i'll try some other PVR software that uses the BDA drivers. Meedio did as I expected. In the circumstances where the interference occurred, I got a small stutter, but it never did what MP does, where the stuttering just keeps continuing. It's like it gets into a recovery state, but can't get out of it.

"Apples to Apples" done. Just been mucking with MCE2005. I can't replicate the stuttering in it. I get some stuttering when I flick the light on and off, but as soon as I stop with the switch, it just carries on as if nothing has happened. Ze problem lies in MP somewhere.

So, if you did the same thing with MediaPortal, it would "stutter/hang" at the point until you changed channel, or turned the TV off and back on again - correct?

Sounds like a bug then - could you please post your system configuration in the template and attach your MediaPortal.log file showing an instance of this "stuttering/hang" and I will use that to log a bug in Mantis for you.

    This okay?

    MediaPortal Version: 0.2.2.0
    MediaPortal Skin: BlueTwo
    OS: Windows MCE2005
    CPU: Athlon64 X2 3800+
    Mainboard: ASUS M2NPV-VM
    RAM: 512MB DDR2
    HDD: 250GB Western Digital SATA2
    Video: Onboard GeForce 6150
    Sound: M-Audio Revolution 7.1 (modified)
    TV-Card 1: DVICO FusionHDTV Lite
    PSU: Zalman
    Case: Coolermaster 610-CX1 Gold
Cooling: Stock AMD with Q-Fan enabled
    Remote: iMon PAD
TV: LG 66cm widescreen SDTV CRT

Minor interruptions in the signal cause Mediaportal to stutter, but then continue to stutter, even when the interruption has stopped. If I rewind slightly and continue playing, I get stutter over the interrupted section, but then it continues as per normal. I've cross-checked it in MCE2005 and in that, the stuttering occurs while being interrupted, but then continues as per normal as soon as it stops.
Everything is fully updated to the current drivers as of 14/01/2007 and all Windows updates have been applied.

Here is my Mediaportal.log file. The VMR9Helper stuff down the bottom is what occurs when the stuttering happens.

    Cheers,
    Nathan
