Have a slight problem as I have a 1.8. Pre-build running (you now, from the the other issue with the DWM call in Win7 and above; see: https://issues.team-mediaportal.com/browse/MP1-4483 ) and dll is compiled for 1.7.1

Have first to revert back
(hopefully I can manage it tomorrow)

Open a DOS window
navigate to your MP install dir >> cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal
And start MP with the following line:
Mediaportal /avoidversioncheck

Oupss, i have apply the change on 1.7.1 Release
Attached is bin against 1.8 Pre build

Ps: i will delete the other bin.

you sure the dll is for 1.8 Pre?
I get still a version conflict message, but nevermind seems to function with the start-option from HomeY
(issue maybe due to the patched version I am running)

Yep 1.7.100 = 1.8.Pre release
But the installer from jira is for internal testing so, you will run in conflict, will try to make you a build for proper testing but you can start mp with /avoidversioncheck in between

With the /avoidversioncheck seems to work quite well.
So no rush
