I have a TBS5881 and have followed the quite easy installation of the patch. Unfortunately I have a lot of problems with this specific device in MediaPortal.
Before I bought the TBS5881 I had a setup with three DVB-T cards working excelent. I added the TBS5881 and the patch to my 1.10.0 MP installation. I use the MP recorder and Argus TV sheduler on a server and several MP clients. The computer is on and running or in sleep mode 24 h/day (never turned off). The power to the TBS5881 is connected constantly. I have tested the device on an older computer with same setup and got similar problems as well. Most of the time it works but not often a hole day.

My problems during two weeks:

- Blue screen twice during the night, the TBS5881 then disapeared twice from device manager, returned after manual reboot
- TBS5881 did not start when recording was about to start, working again after removed and reinserted power to the device
- MedaiaPortal hangs at startup a few times or when trying to use the TBS5881, tried manual reboot of computer then but the computer did freeze at BIOS startup. But it continued reboot when I removed and reinserted power to the TBS. The hardware is blocking the computer in some way.

Is it only I that have these problems? Is there any ideas of sollutions?

    Hi @andcar ,

First of all, I'm not familiar with Argus TV scheduler and how it integrates with MP. However, based on your description, I would say the problem might be more driver related than MP itself. I had some problems when I connected 2x TBS5980 in addition to my TBS5280 (also USB devices), from blue screens to not being able to use the CAM. Together with TBS I did some troubleshooting on a separate machine with only their supplied software installed (DVB Dream). After a few driver revisions all was working well on the test machine, so then I went back to using the devices on my MP TV Server, which needed a slight modification to the TBS patch supplied in this thread to get my CAM working. Since then, all has been well and stable (dedicated virtualised TV server which is switched on 24/7). So, if I was you, I would first carry out extensive testing of the TBS5881 on a separate machine with the same operating system and the TBS-supplied software, with and without the other DVB devices present. If there are driver issues then these should become apparent and you can work with TBS to get them fixed (they are very helpful). Good luck!

I have a TBS5880 but are experiencing the same problems as @andcar ie driver issues. I have mailed TBS but never got any answer. How did you get a good contact with TBS?

Thanx, I'll give it a new try! The forum seemed dead for my specifik tuner (but my version has been replaced)
