Just done it now: it tries to add the filter by its registered name ("MediaPortal DVBSub2") to the graph. So if you have it registered it should work. Unfortunately it's not yet contained inside MP2, so you should use dvbsub2.ax from MP1 and register it using regsvr32.

And if I already have MP1 client on the same machine it *should* just work right?

I think so. I remember I tested subtitle rendering a lot (2 years ago). But my HTPC is now MP2 only (except TvServer v 1.2.x), so I'm not sure how later versions work.

You can currently select subtitles only from OSD (use mouse to show OSD buttons, "[...]" is for subtitles). VideoPlayer will remember the selected language and will re-enable a matching subtitle the next time.

It seems the current MP1 version is now based on DvbSub3.ax, so we need the older DvbSub2.ax (see attachment) registered.

I started already a rework to use the newer version and switch to filebased loading, which removes the need to register the files.

And wich database should be running? In the past with mp1 I had a lot of database problems.
If I remember correct I have MySQL installed and another database. To be honest. I REALY don't have any idea when we talk about that kind of programs... So any help is welcome

The SlimTV service plugin will use the DB connection of MP2: so if you have installed 10th AE and NativeTV plugin, it will use the inbuilt SQLite DB. No need for you to install anything else.

I'm still unable to get subtitles :( I downloaded the attached file and registered it with regsvr32 and that succeeded. I then cleared the logs, started MP and tuned a channel with subtitles. I selected one of the available subtitles but nothing happens.

There were changes that broke subtitle support. I've done some fixes to restore support and added DvbSub3 into plugin (loading it via filename). Please try the attached version and check if rendering works now.

The result is propably not correct yet, it would be good if you can post screenshots of MP1 and MP2 rendering of same video, so I can compare results.

Thanks, now I got subtitles. There are small differences between MP1 and MP2 as you can see from the screenshots. But I cannot say which one I like more. I think the start position is better in MP1 (MP2 should be moved a little to the right) and the font is bigger in MP1 but I'm not sure if it has to be that big but a little bigger than MP2 currently at least, (maybe user configurable?).

What about TeleText subtitles? Most of the channels where I'd like to have subtitles still use TeleText subtitles and not DVB subtitles.

The part I would be most interested in is what I think MP1 refers to as Forced Subtitles
Movies like Hunt for Red October starts with on language (forcing the sub's) and switches to English
