why not start a poll about this skin.

If you didn't plan on releasing it duo the lack of intrest why did you start it at the first place. I can't seem to understand, I design becoz I want to make it look the way I want it.

I design because I think it is fun to do it, that is why I made

Metalmedia (first)
Silicon (second but pulled since I didn't want to update it anymore)
MCE

The ammount of time that goes in to making graphics is alot, it is as easy as that. This skin is far from finnished and I will not make a skin at this point if it isn't that important and REALLY adds something of value to the community. I have tried doing alot of stuff regarding skinning in hope to create an interest from other skinners/artsist. Unfortunatly there have not been that many skins created besides the ones made by Harley and me and that is rather unfortunate. If you have a problem with me posting a thread that says "This MIGHT become a skin" and post my work then that is also unfortunate but I do as I please when it comes to how much time and effort I will put in to something I do for free and for the fun of it.

Dont worry about it, I will not post any more of my mockups so that ppl get disapointed and I will not make any new skins at this point.

I respect everything you say and can understand that you don't have unlimited time to do skins for MP! I think nobody can estimate better than you how much time is really needed to really finish a skin!

So that's fine (and a shame at the same time because I simply love the stuff you design!! :wink: ).

Exactly! We can see that you had fun doing this work for MP (and yes, this is hard work at some point).

In your latest post I read quite some frustration because there are not enough other skinners helping you and Harley out!
This makes me feel bad and leads me to

question#1:
how can we get more skinners for MP?

Samsonite started a competition, which is a great idea! What are the results? Too many unfinished mockups?

question#2:
how can we help samsonite getting back some FUN?

Suggestions are welcome....

MP is free and so everybody working on it do that in there spare time and find it fun to do so.

Don't let the fun become something you have to do, so only put some time in the project if you have the time and mood to do so.

I enjoy updating your beautifull made MediaPortal website and I enjoy your MCE skin everytime I use MP too!

So don't let it frustrate you to do something for MP and please keep contributing since you have some exceptional skills!

Hi Samsonite,

we all together make MP just for Fun, for us and for all that it use.

The Fun of MP is that we work together like a family and MP is the Children .
We all make the best we can for it that it grows up.
Some of us has born it, (Frodo and MrMario) making the ground , bring it up and feed it.
Some others feed the Baby to, like (Agree_ ,Bonkalord ,Domi_fan , IceFred , Int20h , Gilthalas ,JohnAd , MarsWarrior ,Mr.Mitchell , Xbmc-er ) that it can more and more.
Other ones like ( Aurora 13,Luke, ShiftClick, SilentTYL, TBCDevil, FlipGer, LarryGB, Jadz, MACE) make the Livingroom for it or make Books for it.
And we make the Clothes for it that it looks nice.

We all do it only for Fun and not for acceptation, :wink: ..mmh, ok we dot it also for acceptation.

So have additional Fun with it and with making the Clothes.

:wink: You now it is Winter, don´t let the baby frozen.

And i think for Christmas it must have very nice Clothes. :wink:

Hi,

I would just like to say that the skin images look pretty amazing. Love the overall feel of the skin and think that it has a big big potential. If it is to be released i'd download it right away.

Hope that you resume the plans on finishing the skin. I think it would be a great contribution to the Media Portal community.

I do understand Samsonite on this. I would also like this new skin since it's not like MCE
But I do understand from the various web/intranet projects I've been involved with. Design do take some serious amount of time.
Just such a simple thing as choosing colors, that match well together can easily take hours before you decide which ones to use.

Though I hope you'll finish the skin.

To me this skin screams "Media Portal" and gives it a unique professional look.

I'm new to MP and have been lurking around the forum soaking up as much as possible. I made my way over to the skin area and was blown away by what I saw at the begining of this thread. I couldn't read the thread fast enough because I was sure there was going to be a download link. Darn!
