I think this is generally the idea.... carrying on with the existing plugin is not viable in the long term and I've noticed there are some problems with it in it's configuration. The software I don't find to be very elegant. I'm sure that given time I could develop a more suitable plugin.

Unfortunately this is where I have a problem.. I don't have time........ or the experience, or the time to gain the experience. :)

But certainly an opensource plugin would be a far better solution and one that needs starting, it just needs someone to actually start it and make it public. Which nobody has managed yet.

Hey, guys,

I just installed the plugin and I too have 100% CPU usage.
Also the plugin causes most of MP functionality to not work, probably also because of the CPU usage / lockup. GUI works fine, but no movies / TV, etc. start.
Of the plugin, I only see the first screen.

I'm sorry to suggest such a blasphemy, but wouldn't it be better to just start a new plugin so as not to have any closed source problems?
I think this would attract more developers (myself being one of them) and would speed up development greatly.

Any thoughts on this?

I agree with you 100%.
Technick can you atleast make this plugin so it dosn'e make the PC load to go to 100% like the way you modified the last on. You did a really good job on this setup just if you can fix the loading issue that would be greatly appreciated.

    Tehnick,

Is it possible that those of us that have 100% CPU utilization have this because we initially (wrongly) placed the plugin into the Windows plugin subfolder, instead of Process?

I figured since you took over from original developer that the instructions on the initial page somehow don't count.
I only botherered reading the first page after I had massive problems with the plugin (didn't work at all, settings were crashing, etc).
So maybe by doing this I managed to mess up some settings and I need to delete some file somewhere and then the plugin will work for me?

No idea... I have a C2Duo 8500; it take some time (EQ) but not 100%. I found many (memory) bugs in the plugin, too many for me. My HTPC crached also after some hours of used (with my version). It's why I want start from scratch. Mediaportal plugins are difficult to debug and this one was a part of another plugin before to me modify to be a independant plugin; so internal parts could be written more directly. I don't say that it's a bad program, I say that sometime you must stop and go in a different way. I will perhap make a 1st try next month. I want make a display only plugin to start, and if it work, add the touch screen part. Don't wait a "skinnable" plugin, it's 90% of the code and I want something witch don't take all my time.

I placed my plugin the the process folder and I still get 100%CPU. Are you talking about the process folder inside the mediaportal folder?

    Nope. MP Client\Plugins\Process.
There must be something simple with this CPU usage. It can't be that one has it at 100% while others don't. There must be something wrong with the setup.

I don't know what you mean by client but in other words is this what you mean
    C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\plugins\process

Yes, this is exactly the folder I mean. Sorry for not being more specific. I'm currently negotiating with my wife that she would empty the cabinet under the TV so that I cold have a permanent space for the HTPC :) This also means the HTPC is currently only active every now and then. Until I get the TV in September the situation isn't expected to improve much.

    Hi brena

I have recently purchased the Zalman HD160XT Rev2.0 case and wanted to utilise the 7' screen-I loaded Mediaportal and this plugin but found that the touchseen comes up with an error message when touched using Mediaportal and the fonts are way too big-please could you tell me what settings you have so I can try and duplicate them? I am running Win 7 64bit. My main screen is 1024x768 and the touchscreen is 800x600

    Many thanks

    Yoghurt

Hi technick, works great on my Zalman HD160XT.

Yes, like where you're going with this. Nice to have the touchscreen displaying the info and having a touch menu available. Cool.

    Thanks for your work!:D

    Hi yoghurt

Sorry I haven't played with this plugin since testing it back when making the post. As it wasn't very pretty (more a proof of concept) and I kind of figured technick had finished experimenting and was going to look into building a new version from scratch sometime when possible. From memory I just installed it and got it working pretty easily without messing around much at all.

By the way Soundgraph have been busy with improving iMon and a while ago there was some mention of the MP devs liaising with Soundgraph to better integrate the 2 products. So far haven't seen anything obvious in that department but iMon is getting better all the time. Hope this helps a little bit.
