Just look how SIMPLE this is. Every movie have a IMDB page correct? Here, check this link for example:
Twilight (2008/I)
The "tt1099212" extension is the movie specific identifier in their database. We already use this number to import fanart into MovingPictures, either specifying it manually but most of the time, MovingPictures just fetches the data in the background, so Moving Pictures is already associated with this IMDB page.
NOW, almost every IMDB movie page has a video gallery extension for that specific movie, with a movie tagged "trailer". WOW, look at that.
Videos and Trailers: Twilight (2008)
Why cant movie pictures just pull this URL associated with the movie, ie: IMDb Video: Twilight, and imbed a window into the movie select page????
1) Dont put trailers on the main thumbnail page starting automatically. It will cause too much spam, slowdowns, confusion etc.
2) Make is so that when you actually click on the movie, that you put the trailer window on the same page as you movies info page, the one that has the synopsis, cast, fanart etc. Wait 5 seconds, and then start it automatically.
Anyway, I just think this would be so cool. It seems like one of the simplest things to do, but then again, I'm not a developer. I really hope they can fix this up. Thanks for the wonderful work everyone is doing. Its just awesome. The MediaPortal community is the biggest hidden secret on the net.
