    I recently had to reinstall my mediaportal client and now, when a program has been watched, most always (90% of the time) the rating dialog will pop up and then disappear after about 2 seconds. Occasionally it will remain long enough to actually rate a program. The Trakt plugin was updated to a newer version during the reinstall so I looked over the changelog and noticed this item:

    • The Trakt Rate dialog will no longer work after watching episode/movie if using the WiFi remote plugin, there has been some changes to the trakt plugin which breaks this feature. Disabling the WiFi remote plugin will re-instate the dialog until an update is provided.
    I don't use wifi remote plugin but, I do use the cec-remote plugin. Do you think my issue could be related? I'm just troubleshooting right now but, I'd like to be able to rule that out.

    Hi @Gcarr,

    The wifi remote plugin used some trakt api from the plugin but that particular code had been deprecated and hence the reason for that change log entry you quoted. Im not familiar with the cec-remote plugin but given you could see the dialog I doubt it's related. I could check your logs though after you experience the issue to confirm if it has anything to do with the trakt upgrade or mediaportal or some other plugin.

    Cheers
    Damien

    Thanks, here are the two logs that seem to have information that is relative. The Trakt-error log was empty. I included the MP-TVSeries log since it appears to have some interaction with Trakt. I didn't sanitize these files, hopefully there's no passwords or anything in there :)

    EDIT: I forgot to add, the time stamp you are looking for is right around here: 2017-11-12 21:17:05.591

    I can see you finished an episode around that time mark, then I can see it try to load the trakt rate dialog:

    Code:
    2017-11-12 21:17:05.591 [INFO] [MPMain][01]: Playback of MP-TVSeries episode stopped and considered watched. Title = 'One Step Beyond - 2x9 - Forked Lightning', PlayList Item = 'False'
    2017-11-12 21:17:05.595 [DEBG] [Scrobble][08]: Showing rate dialog for episode. Title = 'One Step Beyond - 2x9 - Forked Lightning'

    Code:
    [2017-11-12 21:17:06,075] [Log    ] [MPMain   ] [DEBUG] - WindowManager: route WindowPlugins.GUITVSeries.TVSeriesPlugin:9811->TraktPlugin.GUI.GUIRateDialog:87300
    [2017-11-12 21:17:06,079] [Log    ] [MPMain   ] [DEBUG] - DialogWindow: TraktPlugin.GUI.GUIRateDialog init

    and then it closed
    Code:
    [2017-11-12 21:17:07,421] [Log    ] [MPMain   ] [DEBUG] - WindowManager: unroute to TraktPlugin.GUI.GUIRateDialog:87300->WindowPlugins.GUITVSeries.TVSeriesPlugin:9811

    I can't see any errors or warnings related specifically to those actions which would explain why the dialog is closed unexpectedly. Do you have a MediaPortal-error.log ?

    Here you go... not anything in there around that timeframe. Not much in there at all :)

    I trimmed it but somehow uploaded both. What I trimmed was everything it logged today.

    Yep, as you suspected nothing useful. Okay, can you start ruling things out by trying a different skin. Switch to Titan and see if you can reproduce, if you still can then can you try disable the cec-remote plugin and maybe switch to keyboard input just in case there is something killing the dialog?

    There's something I had forgotten about and you just reminded me. When I tested using remote desktop software, I seem to remember it working every time. I'll do the testing you suggested tomorrow and let you know. Thanks for the troubleshooting tips.

    Ok, so I switched to the Titan skin, tried rating about 5 times and it worked every time. Then I switched back to DefaultWideHD and lo and behold, it worked every time I tried it. I guess maybe the switch over to Titan triggered something to fix itself. (Or it is still broken and I just got extremely lucky) :). I'll keep checking it but I'm pretty sure it's fixed. Thanks Damien, I appreciate your taking the time to help me out!

    Well, I thought it was fixed but it's not. It's not the skins, I can reproduce it now on both skins I tried. I noticed this time that the only time it happens is after my server goes to sleep. Then when my client finishes a show and the Trakt rate dialog comes up, a second or two later I get another dialog popup "Connection to TV Server has been lost" and the Trakt dialog disappears. That seems to be where the problem lies. For now, I've disabled WOL and it appears to be working properly. I'm going to leave it that way for a few days to confirm.

    Hey @Gcarr

    so as you suspect the problem is environmental. It would be out of the trakt plugins scope to address this. What I think is required here is that the dialog which displays "TV server has been lost" should first check if a modal dialog is active. It obviously does not do this. Until that check is in place, the only work around is to look for a setting which can prevent that dialog appearing.

    Maybe there is a setting in the TV client that can disable it?
