[solved] Trying to upgrade...and get this error (1 Viewer)

When attempting to upgrade from 1.7.0 Pre to 1.7.0 Final...I get the error shown above...and cannot go any further!
I stopped the TV service in accord with upgrade instructions,,,please advise!!#

Uninstalled MYSQL....thinking that this might assist the upgrade process....

It didn't....so now I need to reinstall MYSQL....and am looking for some direction as to how I do this!
I would prefer to 'upgrade' as I can retain my previous settings. Presently cannot acess TV server config to export my settings.

Yeah, really not the best idea. In fact, probably the worst thing you could have done. Please don't try that again.

The error pictured in your screenshot seems to indicate that the installer is not able to use standard Windows temp directories... which is odd, unless you weren't running the installer with admin privileges like you should have been. That may all be academic. I'm not sure you'll get out of this hole now without a full reinstall (though if you decide to do that you might want to rescue the MediaPortal settings first).

I don't know how you're going to upgrade if you've previously uninstalled it. Basically you'll be lucky if the databases weren't deleted when you uninstalled. If they were, you've lost everything TV Server related and you may as well start over. Otherwise what you should do probably depends on the version of MySQL which you had installed previously (which I can't tell you).

Aaaaggghhhh....wondered if that would be the case...!!

A full reinstall it is then.....this time I'll save some settings for future use!!
